Melissa Muir – Week 39
I bought this Labradorite over a year ago. I spent way more than I wanted to on it, but is sure was pretty. I actually designed the piece to hang upside down from what it is now, but you know how it is with flashy stones, sometimes they just want to hang the other way. The back of this piece looks pretty neat too. You can see it on my Design Journal.
Week 39 – “On Target” Earrings – Randi/Dax58
Oh so late….
These earrings are a project I used for one of my classes – not my
usual style, but alot of fun to create, and they actually look pretty cool
on… My students like a variety of techniques, so these were created to balance out my metal-only projects! I wanted to create something with color, and I have so many hanks of these tiny seed beads – it's nice to put them to use!
Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Etsy Shop for more of my jewelry. Thanks, Randi
Week 39 – Maurits Cornelius Escher – It started as…..
a component for a bracelet. I attended a workshop given by Tracy Stanley to learn cold connections and rivets. The project was a bracelet with texturized squares of sheet metal. I really wanted to show off what I had learned but had several squares left to work on. So I took my favorite square that I had texturized with a texturized brass sheet of flowers, riveted a small disc and spacer with copper wire, punched holes and attached one half of an old clasp. The brass clasp was given to me by a friend that bought it at an estate sale. The sterling silver circle dangles were components from a bracelet that was given to me as a young girl.

Rose of Sharon Pendant – Week 39
This was the most difficult of Perri's classes, perhaps because it was the first one and I've never really worked with wire at this scale. The "rose" is approx the size of a nickle, just to give you an idea. But I finished it and am quite pleased with myself. Thanks Perri!!!
Week 39-Bowline Knot Pendant
This is something that I was playing around with this weekend while I was at a show. I have seen this knot tied with a single wire before but I wanted to try it with two wires woven together. I'm always impressed at how Corra can manipulate wire into knots and I wanted to see if this was doable. My problem was I had a picture of a bowline knot but didn't really know how to tie it. Fortunately the wire forgave me and I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out. The wire is 20 gauge and 26 gauge and I used a 6mm snapset on the end. The total length is 1 5/8" Thanks for looking.
Riding the Wave the Tutorial Bracelet
Well I have sent this off to be tested it should be ready in a couple
of days. It has so far 114 steps and pictures. 43 pages long. All
pending to see if I need to do a up date.
This lesson shows how to develop a cuff bracelet
using lots of coils and beads. This definitely is not for the faint of
heart. The stitching or sewing method is similar to whip stitch. This
type of wire sewing helps to keep the back of the bracelet as clean as
the front. This type of sewing does take a little extra time and
thinking of where the wire is going on both side. But it is well worth
the out come.
To help you with the construction of the bracelet. If you think of the
wire as a needle and thread and the coils as the fabric when you bring
the wire around each coil you are making a whip
stitch. Just Like mending a hole in a sock. This one will be marked as advance.
Thanks for stoping by.

Autumn Hues Bracelet
In some areas of the states, trees are starting to turn beautiful colors. Warm browns, reds, oranges, yellows and copper are a few. To create this color story I combined a Greek Math bead, Viking Knit, smoky quartz, copper beads and faceted Crystal beads.
Thank you,
