Week 33 – Melissa Muir

Autumn_leaf_cz

Autumn is my favorite season of them all. I love the crisp clean edge to the air. I love the changing of the colors… I just like most everything about it.

This autumn leaf is made by folding and forging the copper, then opening it back up after annealing – I love hitting metal with hammers. I have made the bail with 14 gauge sterling silver and tube set a 4mm CZ.

Week 32 – Melissa Muir

Iolite_drop

Last October I had the opportunity to attend a jewelry retreat with some amazing people. At the retreat we each shared some of the things we know. One of the things I learned was how to do a tube setting. Since that time I have on done one other tube setting and I have wanted to try to do more.

I have these beautiful little Iolite round cut gems that measure 4mm. Today I finally sat down, pulled everything out and gave it another try. I am pretty happy with the result and can't wait to try even more.

Week 31 – Melissa Muir

Gypsy_earrings

These earrings are a couple that I am offering for a class. I call them gypsy earrings, though they could use a bit more color to truly be gypsy earrings.

They are fun and quite simple to make even. The bottom pair matches the bangle from the previous post.

Week 30 – Melissa Muir

Gypsy_bracelet

This bracelet is one that I did for a class I am offering. The shop I am teaching for wanted to have something in autumn colors and have a bit of movement. I thought it would be fun to have a bangle that someone might be able to make with wire while leaving the attachments easy to make and change. I don't know how easy it will be to change them out, but it wasn't difficult to attach them.

The bracelet is made with 14 gauge for the core and 20 gauge for the wrapping.

Week 32: Ruby hoop earrings

SmallDSCF0048

These hoops are made with 14Kt gold-filled wire, and I have wrapped
fresh water pearls and genuine Ruby briolettes using sterling silver
wire.

I hear that hoops are the "in things" in earrings these
days. Unfortunately, unless the hoops are really teeny tiny, they don't
look good on me. But I am sure there will be someone else who will look
really good in these luscious Ruby hoop earrings :-)). I do love making
hoop earrings. They look so lovely….something really delicious about
hoops that are laden with yummy gemstones.

Week 39-Bowline Knot Pendant

Bowline pendant

This is something that I was playing around with this weekend while I was at a show.  I have seen this knot tied with a single wire before but I wanted to try it with two wires woven together.  I'm always impressed at how Corra can manipulate wire into knots and I wanted to see if this was doable.  My problem was I had a picture of a bowline knot but didn't really know how to tie it.  Fortunately the wire forgave me and I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out.  The wire is 20 gauge and 26 gauge and I used a 6mm snapset on the end.  The total length is 1 5/8"  Thanks for looking.

Riding the Wave the Tutorial Bracelet

DSCF9853

Well I have sent this off to be tested it should be ready in a couple
of days. It has so far 114 steps and pictures. 43 pages long. All
pending to see if I need to do a up date.
This lesson shows how to develop a cuff bracelet
using lots of coils and beads. This definitely is not for the faint of
heart. The stitching or sewing method is similar to whip stitch. This
type of wire sewing helps to keep the back of the bracelet as clean as
the front. This type of sewing does take a little extra time and
thinking of where the wire is going on both side. But it is well worth
the out come.
To help you with the construction of the bracelet. If you think of the
wire as a needle and thread and the coils as the fabric when you bring
the wire around each coil you are making a whip
stitch. Just Like mending a hole in a sock. This one will be marked as advance.
Thanks for stoping by.

Autumn Hues Bracelet

IMG_1646

In some areas of the states, trees are starting to turn beautiful colors. Warm browns, reds, oranges, yellows and copper are a few. To create this color story I combined a Greek Math bead, Viking Knit, smoky quartz, copper beads and faceted Crystal beads.

Thank you,

Week 31: Rhyolite, cold connections necklace

I love this flame like Rhyolite cabochon, and have made this necklace using cold connections, for a wonderful lady I met online. This necklace signifies her spiritual journey. Meadow Mist Bracelet

Meadowmist

I created
this bracelet using translucent chunks of faceted misty green prehnite.
Prehnite is such an amazing gemstone. It has a dreamy ethereal quality
and in the light almost appears to glow. I further accented with tiny
gems–smokey quartz, vivid aqua apatite, bottle-green vesuvianite,
blue-violet tanzanite, and mauve freshwater pearls. Finished with a
multi-gem dangle and handmade clasp. Adjusts from 7.75-8.5 inches, 19-22 cm. Enjoy! Sheridan (aka Joslin Jewels)
