Week 49 — Chocolate Swirl

Wk49_swirlychoco4_750
I’m getting there!  This is my piece for week 49, so there will be more 3 weeks to go in order to finish the year, and week 52 is already made, leaving weeks 50 and 51 to create, not counting week 28 that I had put aside and needs to get finished as well.  I WILL DO IT!   I wanna to it!  I owe it to myself… Wk49_swirlychoco1_750

This is a ring I created further to making something similar for a customer.  She saw the first one I had made with only one colour (first one on the left in the picture to the right) and asked if I could make another in two shades of green.  A few tries later, I was able to produce the second ring from the left, in a pleasing pattern and in the right size!  That’s when I realized that the swirly pattern obtained would be interesting in a hot-chocolate-topped-with-melting-marshmallow-after-a-gentle-stir colour theme.  😉

Week 49 – Melissa Muir

Timebottlecapfront Timebottlecapback
I am late! I am late! AHHH! I was doing so well too. Well, this piece is rather fitting for being late. It was made for one of my final projects in school. This is my "Trash to Treasure" piece. We had to take some trash or junk and make it into a "fabulous" piece of jewelry. This is a bottle cap filled with layers of resin and bits and pieces of an old watch that no longer worked. I finished the piece off with a border wrap in Brass.

If you would like to see more of my class projects, I just posted a TON of pictures on my Design Journal.

As always, any comments are appreciated.

week 49 – catching up

I’m still behind but this one I could show (some of the other work I’ve done the last couple of weeks were gifts!). This is one last order from a show a few weeks ago. When I went to Rhode Island the first week of December for a show I went to Myrows again and bought a kabazillion swarovskis. This time I got mostly unfoiled because I still have quite a collection of foiled ones from this summer, this happens to be one that is foiled. This is a large piece, olivine in color, loved the shape; the purchaser wanted it wrapped very simply, can’t get much simpler than this.. I will get pictures of the swars some time in the next couple of weeks if anybody is interested!!

Week 49 — Silver and blue lampwork pendant

Silverlampworkblue

Yes, I’m playing catch-up here. Please pardon the multiple posts. The jewelry was made on time, but the photography lagged. Plus many other impediments, including a major computer virus, getting ready for the holiday show last weekend, family obligations. You know the drill… The important thing is finishing this challenge!! Only three weeks to go, oh my! Silver half circles were stamped and layered, and joined with solder.Given an LOS for patina. The beautiful blue bead is from Sandra Seaman, www.onebead.com. It hangs on a leather cord punctuated with balled silver jump rings.

Week 49 – Link Bracelet- Randi/Dax58

Linkbracelet
I love making bracelets with heavy wire… it’s always a real challenge
to find stones with large enough holes! This bracelet has (from the
top, counterclockwise): denim lapis, carnelian and aventurine (with a
brass spacer), coral, shell, and cherry quartz (which I am pretty sure
is glass). The wire is 16g silver, and I think there may be some 14g
jumprings.

Comments are always welcome… check out My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and check out My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi

Jack Frost

"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire…Jack Frost nipping at your nose…Yuletide carols being sung by a choir…And folks dressed up like Eskimos"

Img_1760 I decided to mix it up a bit for this weeks theme by combining a Laboradorite cab set in sterling silver with DNA Spiral constructed with seed-beads.

First step was making the setting for the cab using sheet silver and bezel wire. Once all the soldering was done and sawing I cleaned up the piece by sanding and polishing. Half round wire was used on the back to create the bail.

Img_1767 DNA Spiral is fairly easy and is usually made using size eleven seed-beads. I kicked it up a notch by using size eights for the core. And made three passes instead of one using three different colors of size eleven seed-beads. To achieve the frosty feel I used pale sapphire, crystal matte ab and white pearl. Due to the heftier spiral the completed length was eighteen inches. In order to assure strength I used crystal Fire-line.

I used a sterling silver toggle to complete the necklace.

Thank you,

Deborah aka Sneekbead
