Week 31 – Melissa Muir

Gypsy_earrings

These earrings are a couple that I am offering for a class. I call them gypsy earrings, though they could use a bit more color to truly be gypsy earrings.

They are fun and quite simple to make even. The bottom pair matches the bangle from the previous post.

Week 31: Rhyolite, cold connections necklace

I love this flame like Rhyolite cabochon, and have made this necklace using cold connections, for a wonderful lady I met online. This necklace signifies her spiritual journey. To read more about it, please go to my blog: http://fleurviolettejewelry.blogspot.com/2009/08/flame-of-divinity-cold-connections.html

Week 31-Elisabethan Age-Julie’s Bracelet

Week 31-Julie This was made for a friend at work who was leaving.  The Viking Knit was done in copper and the copper sheet that was cut to look like an ID bracelet is 22 gauge copper with Julie's name stamped on it.   The spiral charm is 14 gauge copper and flattened.  I then tumbled it.

YOJ09-31 CZ Solitaire Pendant – Dianne Karg Baron

YOJWk31-CZSolitairePendant CZ Solitaire Pendant (2009)
Sterling silver, cubic zirconium
Constructed, cold joined
L 1.5 cm x W 0.6 cm

Getting caught up after a couple of weeks away.  I kept up with the
projects, but didn’t have a chance to photograph them until today.  My
entry for week 31 is an adaptation of the solitaire prong setting by
Jorgen Greftegreff.  My husband gave me a solitaire pendant for
Christmas a couple of years ago, and I’ve always wondered if the
setting could work in wire.  This version, while successful in the
sense that the adaptation worked, is a bit too messy on the back for my
preferences.  It was worth the experiment though :-) .

Wire Bracelet – Week 31

WireBracelet

This was my first attempt to create a bracelet in this style. Alas, due to my impatience with instructions, it came out way too small, thus the gigantic clasp in the back. Am thinking I'll just resize the clasp and give it to a 5 year old…

Week 31 – Everyday Pearls – Randi/Dax58

Pearl1 I have a pair of similar pearl earrings, and I get alot of comments on them, so I decided to make these for my new (opening this week – really!) Etsy shop. Nothing fancy – just a simple, clean design. Nicely shaped pearls, hanging from handmade, brushed silver oval rings. I find myself reaching for my pair all the time, so I figure that others may like these everyday pearls too.

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Etsy Shop for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi

Week 31- Rutilated Quartz

Rutile quartz pendant2 I had these pretty golden rutilated quartz drops that I got from Sapphire Garden sitting in storage waiting for an idea.  This isn't a brilliant idea but I wanted to keep it uncomplicated to show off the stones.  That's my story anyway.  :D  Thanks for looking.

Week 31 – A Handful of Rings

A Handful of Rings

Because I haven't been following the themes and because I wanted to stretch myself, I have sometimes felt I should do something a little extra one week. So this week, instead of making a ring, I made a handful of rings, 5 in total, using the same technique for each but creating 5 entirely different looks. In practice I made each ring on a single day. They are, from left to right, Blue Czech glass, Swarovski pearls and crystals, yellow jade nuggets, amethyst with coiled spirals and pearly beads, and lapis nevada rectangles. I figured out the sizing dilemma and all of them turned out at the size 7 I was aiming for. I thought it was a nice, productive week. Oh, and I also got a job. So I am a very happy camper right now.

Over at Silver and Crystals and Beads, Oh My! I have pictures of the individual rings and more technical details. If you like them, I'd love for you to stop over there to take a closer look. I always am glad for any of your comments and critiques. Thanks for looking!

Hybrid Viking Knit

IMG_1524

Via an email conversation with Nancy and Sue, I found out I had actually created a hybrid stitch. Cometo find out technically I'm not doing traditional Viking Knit. No wonder it was taking me such a long time…LoL! =D

Anyhow I've capped sections of my hybrid knit with 30 caliber bullet brass. The focal is a version of Barb Switzer's Greek Math Bead. =)

Thank you,

Deborah aka Sneekbead
