wk2_Delia Stone_ Netting w/ accent stitch

Many of you are familiar with my needlelace obsession. :)  It continues with this post.  I have discovered that I really like the look of needlelace on a teardrop shaped stone, and more than that I've discovered I love adding this little accent stitch to finish it off.  I like the something extra that it seems to add to the overall piece.  Here are two examples of a netted bezel being finished off with the accent stitch.  The first is a lovely piece of wonderstone with a Tundra Sapphire accent, and the second is of course a lovely piece of labradorite w a Montanna blue Swarovski accent.

Something old … with a new twist.  Not a big twist, mind you, but enough to make it a bit more unique.  Thanks for looking.  I'll be updating my blog as soon as I have the chance.

Week 52-Black and White-How Far?

My last piece for 2008 is a pin made from copper with a lampwork bead that I made in a class I had taken.  Although my interest does not lie (at least right now) with making glass beads, I have an appreciation of the skill and talent (along with creativity) it takes to make glass beads.  The dangles are head pins that I made from sterling silver and copper.  I've had the small picture frame of the Eiffel Tower for a long time and thought this was a good piece for it.

Week 52-How Far wm To all of you……….it's been a great pleasure being a part of a very talented and artistic group of people.  I've enjoyed every week and thank all of you for the inspiration that you've provided.  I have a long way to go but hopefully will continue to grow in YOJ2009.  Week 52-How Far 2

Week 51-Wrapping it Up!-Twisty Curvy

Although the end is near it seems like the beginning for me!  I feel like I've come a long way since January 2008 when I first participated in YOJ2008.  My pieces, although very basic, have pushed me to learn new skills and experiment with those skills.

Week 51-Twisty Curvy Turquoise This piece was created without any true plan in mind.  The turquoise donut because of it's roughness seems to be a perfect embellishment for this piece.  I made a double-sided headpin to attach the donut.   Week 51-Twisty Curvy Turquoise 1

Snow Black

336g

Snow Black is a necklace that somehow summarizes the whole year 2008 in my jewelry making – swirls and curls so often present in wire-wrapping and on the other hand new experiments I've already gone through like leaving silver oxidised to deep black and combining it with contrasting materials.

I hope the new year will be at least as successful as the old one 😉 I've sold this necklace today on 6:00 pm 30 minutes after it was listed in my gallery 🙂 Since we'll be building a house this year I hope my jewelry will still be attractive for customers and inspiring for other wire-wrapping artists (new tutorial is already on it's way ;)).

I hope you'll have a great time tonight celebrating the turn of years. May all you New Year resolutions inspire you to become more happy and enjoy your everyday life 🙂

Hugs,
Iza

The Grand Finale

Bracelet 009  The Grand Finale,

I would like to say thank you to everybody that gave me comments thur out this year, I would especially like to thank Laura Holm for being such a great friend and always having the right words to keep me going, and to Lola D for helping inspire me to take the plunge and join YOJ. I think all the artist here ROCK!! I cant thank everybody enough for letting me be a part of history in the making.

As for my final piece, I was again inspired by another jewelry artist on jewelry lessons emon852000 He did The Royal Batik – Bracelet and later wrote a tutorial . The bracelet I did is in 18g wire for the base and 26g for the coils and weaving, I used lots of beads amethyst, perdiot, and citrine roundels, and in the center 4 yellow mystic topaz beads. This bracelet was a lot of work but when I put it on, I get so many complements form everybody that see it. C&C always welcome. Thank you so very much !!! I am looking forward to the New Year and hope everybody has a most wonderful year ahead with lots of great works of art flowing out to fill the pages here on YOJ. Linda Rosa my web site
