Week 47-Fallen Snow-It’s meaning

Peace, Serenity, Bliss………That's what I think Fallen Snow can bring.  Well, not if you have to drive in it…..but, that's these are the feelings I get when I see that fresh snow clinging to the trees, snow that hasn't been walked on, and the quietness the snow brings.

Week 47-Movement I had the most wonderful opportunity to take a workshop taught by Susan Lenart Kazmer this fall.  Learning the concepts behind her talisman jewelry opened up new skills for me and new ways of looking at objects.  This is one of several components that I put together to make a keychain.  The "Peace, Serenity, Bliss" was part of a bracelet.  I made a ball on one of the wire with a torch, added the disks the found object, more disks, and then made a ball on the other end of the wire.  Susan calls this a Trapeze attachment and gives the piece movement.

Snow Pendant by Eva Sherman – Week 47

Snow Pendant 2 If you look real close you can see a snow storm swirling around in the polymer clay cab created by my friend Jenny Rohrs. I wrapped the wire with a gizmo, threw on some swars and caged the whole thing with 20 ga wire. Easy! and Fun!

Week 47

Week35  Although these two pieces weren't meant to go together, its seems a happy accident that they do!.. I'm not sure why the hoops look so strange where they are laying onto each other.  All sterling and oxidized

Melissa Muir – Week 47

Victorian-full
This is a piece that I have had done for a while now. I just never knew what to do for a chain. I used the chain tutorial in the November issue of Art Jewelry by Christine. There are more pictures of this piece on my design journal, including a close up of the pendant and back side.

Fallen Snow week 47

I fused this cabuchon probably two years ago but never did anything with it.  This was an excellant opportunity to create a pendant.  The picture doesn't show the layering of glass.  First the back layer is a sparkly dichroic, then black and clear and on top is white and clear.  The effect looks like snow is on the top of all the colors.  Like newly fallen snow.   Enjoy and comment please.

Empress Bangle

Emperess Bangle1  Empress Bangle back  Empress Bangl net beads

These aren't the best pictures.  Just some quickie photos on the window ledge.  I call this my Empress Bangle … in hand it has a very LUSH feel.  It looks like a piece that belongs to royalty.  The camera shows boo boos that the eye doesn't seem to settle on when viewed in person.  I used the needle lace technique to create this bangle.  First I netted the ammolite then I created the frame, set the stone within it and began to net and build around it.  With all the delicate gold wire work on the bangle it just seemed a shame to put bare beads on the back to tie it together so I decided to net some of the beads on the back to pull the detail through the back of it … otherwise it just felt too plain in comparison.  It was a pain in the butt to net those beads on the back, but it was worth the struggle because it really added a lot to the look of the bangle.

Ammolite, green garnet and classic red garnet with swarovski accents.

Symphony of Petals ~ Week 47

A dreamy combination of reds and yellows with just enough glitz and glamor. This glass lampwork flower focal was handmade by me in the flame. Rich vibrant shades of red and glowing yellow make this flower pop.. along with a touch of my favorite shimmering dichroic glass.

This necklace is intended to be worn as more of a choker style so the flower sits up high and can be seen well. The necklace is handmade by me of solid sterling silver and beautiful gemstones to compliment the flower. Alternating along the handmade necklace strand are beautiful deep rich cranberry red faceted chalcedony briolettes and faceted sparkling rutilated qartz nuggets. The rutilated quartz nuggets have been wrapped from top to bottom in two strands of sterling silver wire for an added touch of detail. Shimmering pale yellow oro verde quartz onion briolettes have been added along the bottom portion of the necklace for added color and movement.

Thank you ~Laura

Week 47 – Spinner Rings – Randi/Dax58

Spinner3
I'm not sure what happened, but the default size for the photo uploader now seems to be HUGE!!

I've wanted to make spinner rings ever since I made a spinner bead last
year, and finally got around to it. I made 6 of them, each one a little
different, but basically the same. The ring band is 18g silver, and the
spinner is either twisted or hammered wire which is slightly larger
than the center of the band. In this ring, I used 2 thin twisted wire rings for the spinners, and I left a light "scratch" tecture on the band. The edges of the band are lightly flanged,
so that the spinner can't slide off. These are fun to make, and fun to
wear!

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi

MOMMAKAT: I “HEART” silversmithing!

Heartpendantb111008I shaped the 16GA in a heart shape, then soldered, then filed and sanded down the rough edges and the line from the soldering, then hammered for texture, then polished and tumbled it. This is a bad picture, but it's gorgeous, it just shines and looks so good!  And you can't see the solder line, which is something I've been working on! I love silver  smithing!  more pics and story ( and other experiments) on my blog at :
