Jean Power- weeks 4-6- geometric 2.8.1

Ok- so I’m not only far behind – but easily confused and was busily posting away on 2007!

No wonder it wasn’t appearing. Now I have my head screwed on and am at least in the right year

I am really far behind, but I have been making pieces, just not photographing and uploading them.
I promise to remedy this and spend the next week catching up- but not all at once so I don’t completely swamp everyone else.
This
necklace took me months and months and was eventually finished within
hours of the deadline I was making it for- I just about managed to get
it photographed and in the post in time- phew.
It’s one of my
favourite pieces ever- even though I’m not completely happy with the
colours and how they progress. Even thought the pattern of changing
stays the same all the way along, I feel at one point the colours look
like they jump and I wasn’t happy with this- but no time to change it-
I’d just have to bead another one and see if that worked better!

it’s in the finals of Bead & Buttons Bead Dreams so anyone going to the show this year will get to see it- lucky you!

I subtitled it ‘Collar for a Rangoli Girl’ after being inspired by the colours and shapes used in Jeanpower_geometric281 rangoli.

You can see another view of the piece here on my website

Kraken’s Handmaid – Shaktipaj

Cnidariakrakenshandmaid02

CnidariaCnidaria

The name Cnidaria comes from the Greek word "cnidos,"
which means stinging nettle. When I looked up "polypi",
some interesting sea creatures  revealed themselves, not the
least of which are the hydra form of cnidaria. I thought that they
fit my piece. The pic at right  is surely a nasty example, no? I
had Iza Malczyk in mind when I made this little bauble. She uses an
interesting double cored wrap for many of her pieces that I hadn’t
attempted. I wanted to explore the possibilities for use. That wrap
is great! It allows a lot of movement and embellishment, while
hinting of flat, secure surfaces. I added some citrine, pearls, and
labradorite for a bit of color. No LOS , although the details might benefit from it. Just another expermental flight of fancy. I didn’t get the best pics- sorry for that! This bit of fantasy that
resulted is also due to Iza – she loves "Pirates of the
Caribbean", and her Kraken is marvelous! As I made this, I wove
a story along with it that incorporated Tennyson’s poem "The Kraken". Thanks for looking! Comments and critiques gratefully accepted! Perri

You can read both the poem and my story on my Blog!

Week 6 — Eudialyte pendant

Eunalitependant_4 Please bear with me — I’m three weeks behind and finally catching up. I was down with the flu for two weeks, and feeling better at last!

This is a sterling 18 g square wire wrap treatment of a large eudialyte cab I bought months ago. It’s hung on a loooong double chain and a hand-made hook clasp. Finished with a patina of liver-of-sulfur. I love wearing this pendant.

Week 6- Play Misty for Me

This isn’t my "Aquarius" project.  I do have it done, but it has been awful to photograph so I am skipping it for now and will just use it when I can figure out how to photograph it.

Blue_lace_agate_with_netting Instead I have another Eni tutorial that I have incorporated into a necklace.  The focal and the two round beads are blue lace agate.  The remaining stones are blue chalcedony.

I’d done netting before with a Mary Hettmansperger class but it is much harder to do when it is important for the loops to be consistent and even.  In the class we were using odd shapes and were dropping loops to add spaces etc. so even was not so very important.  I like the results.  I made earrings of blue lace agate to match but that photo was blurry.  Hmm, there seems to be a theme, maybe I need photography lessons!!

Vintage Rose Earrings – Week 6 – Amari

VintageroseearringsI had a good soldering session today – so now I have lots of bits and bobs on my desk waiting to be coiled and beaded – happy days!  🙂

These earrings sort of evolved on their own really – I added some pinky freshwater pearls to the centre of the ‘flowers’, surrounded by tiny goldfill beads. On the dangles are black and gold cloisonne beads, rose quartz briolettes, and clusters of freshwater pearls.

More info and pics on my blog and other stuff on my website. Maz 🙂

Week 6 – Aquarius Pendant

Wouldn’t you know it — I decide to go with the theme and my muse decides to pull a disappearing act!  Oh well, here’s the result.  My original vision was to have three wavy, crystal-wrapped, wires hanging horizontally and joined by short chain segments.  In essence this would be reminiscent of the traditional Aquarius line-drawn symbol.  I managed to get the three wire segments done, but that’s when the muse left, and the chain connections just didn’t work out.  So, in the end, I simply turned the whole thing 90 degrees, and wrapped the three pieces together.  My husband says it looks like a three-toed foot….and the worst part is….I think I agree with him.  Argh!

Heartleather Reticulated heart on leather with extender chain. It’s a bit plain, I’m not thrilled with it, I feel like it needs something, but I’m not sure what. lol

Melissa Muir – Week 6

VinepinLate again. I just can’t seem to get posted on time. My new computer has decided that it doesn’t like my camera and is totally incompatible with it. That is not a good thing at all. Anyway, this is my first attempt at a pin. I am rather pleased with how it turned out for the most part. I have to redo the pin catch on the back, but that shouldn’t be too bad. The stone is just a CZ – about 7 – 8 mm.
