Melissa Muir – Week 29

Mixed_Stars  I made this piece during a class where I was teaching sawing, soldering and riveting. It isn't often that I actually get to make a piece and finish it while teaching, but this was a great example that just happened to end up as a finished piece. The top star and bead have been riveted on after balling up one end of the wire.

As always, more of my work can be seen on my Design Journal – http://design.kcjewelbox.com

Week 29-Egon Schiele-Take time to Laugh

Week 29-Laugh This bracelet was fun to put together.  I like the combination of the yellow turquoise, carnelian and pearls together.  A square Week 29-Laugh 1 vintage bead was added for fun along with the laugh charm that I cut and shaped with a file.

Take time for some laughter today!!!

Jim McIntosh Outer Ring Pendant – Week 29

JimMcPendantt

I took a great class with Jim McIntosh this weekend and this is the project we made in the morning. The outer ring is fused argentium which needs no solder or flux and leaves no firescale or tarnish – that piece of information alone is going to revolutionize my world!

Week 29-Coin Pearl Bracelet

A simple girly-girl bracelet this week as I've been too busy decluttering the house and garage to do much else.   This is made using sections of purchased chain in between the coin pearls with blue chalcedony and pink amethyst rondelles added.  Thanks for looking.

Week 29 – Lampwork Links Bracelet – Randi/Dax58

LWBrangle I am getting back to basics a bit… just some heavy wire links with
silver beads (Hill Tribe Silver from Thailand), lampwork beads from a
local artist, and Greek ceramic beads. All the wire work (16g) is done
by me, including the connecting rings and clasp. I love these
bracelets, but the fit can be a little tricky – since it is only 3
segments, you need to be sure that it lays well across the top of the
wrist.

Also – how does the backdrop look? I wil be doing an Etsy shop soon, and I'm trying to create photos that are visually interesting. I think the rustic wood works with my casual style…

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi

YOJ09-29 Freeform Bangle – Dianne Karg Baron

YOJ09-29WonderWomanFreeformBangle Freeform Bangle (2009)
Copper
Constructed, cold joined, liver of sulphur patination

I’ve been in Haliburton for the last week teaching the Wire
Jewellery course, so this week’s entry is one of the projects made
during the week.  This is the “freeform” bangle we made on Thursday.

Week 2 and Wire Jewellery II start tomorrow.  Four of the ladies
from last year have signed up again, and one from last week is in the
class as well.  So there are going to be lots of familiar faces!

I’ll write more about the classes after next week when I’m home again.

Week 29 – Summer seaside ring

Herringbone Ring Web 700

This aventurine and herringbone ring makes me think of summer and the seaside, and since I just got back from a week with my sister and her family in the Rio Grande Valley, that's appropriate. I was also inspired by all the rings my Facebook and JewelryLessons friends have been creating. Since I haven't made many rings, I was pleased to figure out a way to make a ring with very repeatable sizing that also incorporates my own aesthetic. I've already started some variations on this.

Three Metals Viking

IMG_1448

Nancy's copper viking knit piece inspired me…in fact it kicked my muse in the butt! =D

First I cut a 12 inch piece of 18 gauge sterling silver for the base. Then I dug through my stash of copper beads and caps. It needed a little turquoise, so that was next. The copper and turquoise were fed onto the 18 gauge wire, along with a bullet end cap on each side. I then took my stash piece of fine silver viking knit and cut two 3" pieces. To finish off the ends of the knit bullet ends were added. Final step was making loops at both ends.

A little Byzantine and a Connie Fox style clasp…we have a finished necklace. =)

Oh the metals used are silver, copper and rose brass. I guess if you count the fine silver it's four but, I like odd numbers. =)

Thank you,

Deborah aka Sneekbead
