Week 27- More soldering

Week27  This is my second bezel ever!  I took a great cab- I think it's pink opal and then fabricated the back, soldered the bezel about one zillion times, added the fine silver balls to the end, soldered the bail and then set the stone.  All was LOSed.  The little divet between the 2nd and 3rd ball came from polishing, need to do more work, IRL the divet doesn't even show… I want to get better at this, although I see it as an enhancement to my cold connections and wirework instead of a focal in my work.

Week 27 – Pirate Treasure

I had skipped this one… I am slowly catching up! I will make it! 🙂
I knew I wanted to make a ring for this one… a ring a pirate may find in a treasure chest and wear… much like Jack Sparrow, who wears tons of rings! As soon as I thought about Pirates of the Caribbean, I thought of Iza and I decided to make me a ring to match the earrings Iza made me (She posted them here- Equador Morning). Starting off the same was as in the Opposites attract ring, I made this one, using the same stones Iza used in my earrings, labradorite, rainbow moonstone and tiny pearls. I oxidized and polished and I love it 🙂Img_0732

p.s. for a pic of me wearing the set, head on to my blog 😉

A few simple rings…

Rings I haven’t done many rings, but played with a few for a small show I had this past weekend.  They are just the simplest design out there, but they turned out fairly nicely.  I especially like the smaller stones…the wire seems easier to control around them.  I will definitely be making more and actually have a couple of advanced tutes I would like to incorporate.

Melissa Muir – Week 27

VictorianearringsI call these my Victorian Earrings. I love these. They are made very similarly to my small wire angels. These earrings feature a peridot colored crystal and sterling silver. You can see more pictures on my design journal.

Jean Power- week 27- coiled earrings

Two pairs of earrings I made to illustrate the section on ‘moving on’ in wirework for my third book. The idea is just mixing wrapped loops, coils, hammering and making your own ear wires.

Dingly Dangely

I know it’s been a while since I posted "components, but this "dingly dangley" took a while to put together.  The components toog forever to make (although it looks like I went shopping in the trash), but they were cut, forged fired and forged again before adding rivit and more dangelys. The px do it no justice and you can’t hear the delightful sounds it makes when you wear it. On the whole, I’m pleased. Inspiration for this came from Susan Lenart Kazmer’s book, "Making Connections" which I highly recommend.

Pirate’s Treasure

PrettybottomThis reminded me of an old bottle, rusted, but with old detail- something Jack Sparrow might hang from his dreads!  ( So love Pirates of the Carribean!).

“Shiver Me Timbers”

AAAARGHH!!!!!  and Shiver me timbers me hearties!!!!!    Ye see, I’m late posting me Pirate Treasure!!!  There’s many a scallywag Buccaneer has walked the plank for eyeing up me Fluorite Beauties for his lass’s booty!!!!   So Matey!!!!  What ye be thinken???

The teardrops weigh 60+ carets and have sparkle and clarity.  Because fluorite is easily marred, I was very careful not to scratch the stones.  I added a little foo-foo to the hook and eye clasp.  It isn’t easy to see because getting the photo was a challenge. The necklace is 19 1/2 inches and lays just above the cleavage.  The range of color is soft and pastel.002

Week 27 – Couple of Pretties – Randi/Dax58

Ww2pr
Continuing with the "that doesn’t look like me!" theme… these are 2
pairs of wire wrapped earrings. The bright ones have a center faceted
stone of either chalcedony or quartz, and the antiqued pair have a
center stone and drop which is peruvian opal. Both have lightly hammered frames in 18g, with 26g used to wrap, and
small 2mm silver beads accent the wraps. I’m just trying to use up
inventory and regain my wire skills – after being "wireless" for so long, I’m surprised that I remember how!

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi
