Carrousel Rings
As I have already stated, I am taking a sabbatical, but it doesn’t mean that I won’t be making any jewellery at all! No, it simply means that I will be making only what I feel like doing without any pressure (this implies no commissions or special orders, and no classes or workshops).
I really like the Carrousel rings that I made for week 49. I like wearing them and they are fun to make too, so I decided to make a small collection in different sizes and colours for my Etsy shop.

2 views of this pretty.I really like vintage glass, and this is great! Playing with different clasp shapes, and the delicate wisps on the bottom spoke to me. The addition of some deeper tourmaline rondelles completes it. Perri

This pendant has the same basic shape as one I did in the 3rd quarter, but I’ve used different stones and woven them onto the frame differently too. A sterling silver hammered base, lots and lots of finer sterling silver wire, aquamarine (my link to this week’s theme!) and labradorite. A friend thinks it looks a bit like a fish, so that’s another link to the theme!

Week 50 — Aquamarine and garnet silver heart Pendant
I didn’t want to post this one until this gift was given to its recipient on Christmas Eve. Our large family picks names every year for our gift exchange, and I pulled my sister-in-law Debbie, who loves hearts. This tabbed pendant is stamped all over with the swirled hearts. It’s center is an aquamarine mined in New Hampshire, captured in a net of garnets, and given an LOS patina. She loved it!
Week 50: Bailey – Focal Pendant (Ocean Floor)
Ok, I admit, this is a bit of an unusual entry, but I’ve started working with Polymer Clay recently and I always wanted to do one of these lovely Focal Pendants inspired by the work of Christi Friesen… so I present to you "Bailey the Sea Turtle" – I think she would qualify for the Ocean Floor theme of Week 50. She’s my first one and well, I wanted to show her off 🙂
She can be worn as a pendant (there is a space underneath her shell to put her on a leather cord, ribbon or string her on a necklace (although she is a bit on the larger side, she would most likely be better just used on display).
She’s a happy little turtle, made out of Premo Polymer Clay and decorated with pretty sea shells, garnet gemstone eyes, and lots of sparkling mica swirls… she measures 2 3/4" long x 3" wide (at widest point).
Cheers 🙂

Week 50 – Melissa Muir
Well, it isn’t a piece of jewelry, but it can hold a few. This is another one of my final assignments for class. We had to make a box with a nicely working hinge. I hadn’t ever made either and I am really proud of this one. The box is made with 14 gauge copper walls and the top and bottom are made with 20 gauge. It took two BIG torches to even get the solder to flow on this baby. And even then it took a couple of go’s at it to get it right.
The inside has a black velvet flocking treatment and the outside design was created with colored pencils and Liver of Sulfur.
More images can be found on my design journal. Thanks for any comments.
Week 50 – “Snow Drop Earrings”
I seem to be doing a series in pearls at the moment. I used 2mm Fresh Water Pearls on the flatten, 18 gauge frame, wrapped with 26 gauge Sterling Silver. I heavily oxidized the SS to bring out the pearls. I’m having a lot of fun with this series and will explore more design ideas. -Nancy
Week 50 Warm and Fuzzy Candle Pendant
Well not really warm and fuzzy maybe warm and cozy or Christams Candle.
Copper sheet with 16 gauge copper wire that form the candle and flame. I am also working on earrings that sort of match, but have to finish a knit scarf for my son’s girlfriend instead. (I guess that is the fuzzy part of the week) The color added to the copper is Universal Patina from Art Chemicals. I use this patina on many items that I want to color. After applying patina I seal with spray laquer,

Week 50 – Ocean Floor ::mrs beadsley
Etched copper cuff with blue patina. I found a great thermal image of the ocean floor taken from outer space, etched a rendition of it onto a copper cuff I formed out of copper sheet then added a blue patina to it. I followed the instructions in November’s BeadStyle magazine for the patina treatment – and for the most part I am really happy with the outcome. I ended up with some totally bare spots and I am not really sure how they came to be but the blue is a brilliant blue and really looks nice against the bare copper. I wil try this again, but next time I will do a more involved etch and leave the piece in the patina treatment for less time – might even out the colors a bit more. You can see more at my blog about this piece and more of my jewelry can be seen at my website.
