Week 17 – Byzantine Collector’s Bracelet

Week17I finally am catching up.  =)   This bracelet is part of a Byzantine series that I’m doing.  I used 18 gauge, sterling silver square wire,  Bali beads and a square Hematite for accent.  This bacelet sold the beginning of May. =]   -Nancy

FishY FibulA

Fishfibula
When all else fails I make fibulas. Maybe because they’re little works of art in a nice manageable format….
At first I thought this was a bit of a copout but when I saw the result I thought the swirls resembled waves and thought how cute the fish went with this design and will make more based on this prototype….yet again, another design that never would have happened if I hadn’t been a member of this group…..Yay!
Brass 16 ga wire with a reticulated enamelled fish….

Braided Saturn

Braided_saturn
Braided_saturn_hangingI’ve been playing with this style for a bit, and don’t seem to be running out of ideas any time soon. This one is roughly 3/4 in. long. Again, sterling, 24 and 28g, various and sundry beads. Cool how this lends itself to so many configurations. My poor pea brain is kept amused, anyway……

Dolphin

OK, so not directly a dolphon, but the colors definitely reminded me of the ocean!

A chrysocolla cab, with dangles of smokey quartz.

“Fishing for Focals”

The closest this piece is to fish is the “Eni” net that I learned to do on some focals that I had……now I’ll have to design something using this netting technique to go with the fun articulated fish that I have. Nettedfocals72

Week 17 – Fishin’ – Ellen/rubystar

Catch_of_the_day_pendantThis one is still a work-in-progress, but eventually, this little fishy will hang by his mouth from a decorative hook on a necklace with the same color scheme as his pretty scales. I think I can do it, if I can get past the thought of an animal squirming on a hook around my neck…. hmmm… perhaps this one will be put up for sale! LOL!

The frame is 20g argentium sterling, the weaving wire is 26g argentium sterling, the eye is a 4mm sterling bead and the scales are seed beads. I think he’s cute.  🙂

Jean Power- week 17

I love the work of Suzen Milldot and was lucky enough to do a class with her on button knots.
I made this necklace on the day using some lampwork I bought last year and some donuts and pony beads to match.
It’s a great technique and I can definitely see myself using it to turn all those odd beads I own into nice jewellery.
