Week 51 — Decorations for Lucky

I have to tell you first that our family has acquired a new member recently, with the adoption of Lucky, a young and beautiful female black Labrador mixed with German Shepherd (or so we think…). She is bright and sweet, and well behaved, and… oh well, I am very fond of her as you can see!  😉
Wk51_deco4_750
Surprisingly, my 16 year-old son wanted me to buy Lucky a baby pink or powder blue collar, adorned with
crystals and rhinestones.  Very bling-bling, and so unlike him!  LOL!   Unwilling to spend
astronomical amounts of money in fashion accessories for trendy doggies, I decided to buy a plain unexpensive collar, and to decorate it myselfWk51_deco3_750 (Decorations theme, yeah!).  I crocheted a band with stainless steel wire, little opalite hearts and various glass beads, and stitched it solidly to the collar with 34ga stainless steel wire.  She is soooo cute!  A real princess!

Week 51 Perri’s earrings

I made these earrings specially for Perri without even knowing she was
my SS :). I’m glad she liked them. They are made with faceted Rhodolite
Pink Garnet and Fine silver.

Lotus Pendant – Shaktipaj

Lotus_pendant01 Yes, I’m going to cheat a bit, because this pendant got made first, and then I needed the next piece to complete it. I like the flow of the cap on the Charoite, my new favorite stone. I’m a purple freak, and wanted to wear it for New Year’s. The bail was lots of fun to make. All sterling, all the time. Perri

Infinity

Infinity Infinity_close_up

This necklace has no link to this week’s theme at all! Double infinity chainmaille weave (rings cut using my lovely koil kutter!) with a beautiful lampwork bead by Isabelle Anderson and Swarovski crystals. I am really enjoying chainmaille at the moment, so expect to see more of it in 2008!

Decorating

Pursecharm
Part of my Secret Santa submission, this is a purse charm made with my lampwork beads and sterling silver.
Works great as zipper pulls too. One of about a dozen that I made and wish I had made more in time for Christmas gift giving……

Week 51 — Kyanite with briolets

Kyanitebrioletbest_2 This pendant is tiny and delicate, which is kind of a departure from my usual style. I made a couple of variations of these to give as Christmas gifts. Kyanite in a wrapped silver frame, with two tiny kyanite briolet dangles. I hope she likes it!

One more entry to go! I’m working on something special that I hope to finish this week while I’m on vacation, after the holiday dust has settled!

Week 51 – Melissa Muir

Paisley_seriesOkay, so there isn’t just one piece. There are 8 pieces in this one. Another one of my assignments at school was to use components in my work. We had to create 10 – I didn’t get the last two finished. Each piece is completely different and they all turned out pretty well. You can see a couple of them close up on my design journal if you wish.

Over the top – Week 51 -Sandi Hj/Pepperma

Yoj57cweb
Yoj57awebThis is my first try at Eni’s Rainbow Ring tutorial. I love rainbow wraps, and own several from a favorite young artist, but never tried to do one myself before. I had a wonderful time making it, and love the way it looks sitting on the table. On my hand, it makes a better weapon than piece of jewelry, but that’s okay, too. My DH calls it a cocktail ring. 🙂 I guess it does have a big old rock in the setting. Just that the usual rocks for cocktail rings didn’t come from the bin of tumbled "pretty rocks" at the local rock shop. Technical details are at my journal.

What a wonderful year of jewelry this has been for me! It’s hard to believe the finish line,at least for now, is in sight. I’ll have a lot more thoughts and comments in the next couple weeks when I am able to step back and think about all that I have learned over the whole year. Comments and critique always welcome. Thanks for looking

Week 51 – “A Byzantine Collector’s Bracelet” Series VI

Week51This bracelet is for my nephew’s Christmas present.  Since he’s a freshman in college, he wanted a dressier medical ID bracelet.  I used the Byzantine weave, 18 gauge, square, sterling silver, ID 4mm and 16 gauge SS for part of the clasp.  I decided to make it part of my "collector’s bracelet" series.  I do hope he likes it!  -Nancy

Week 51 – Rippled Earrings – Randi/Dax58

Ripples_2 These are a favorite style of mine… simple rippled strips that are collapsed together. I corrugated the strip with a microfold brake, but you can also use an industrial tube wringer. Then I compress some areas with pliers, so that they shape the curves. These include handmade earwires, and have small aventurine pillow beads as accents.

For reference, one of the earrings is laying reversed – they are actually opposites of each other (not the same) so that they frame the face correctly…

Comments are always welcome… check out My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and check out My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi
