Melissa Muir – Week 21

Pink_victoria2  This is a piece I made while teaching a class using the techniques shown here. It uses a beautiful pink amethyst that just sparkles. The wires are 19, 20 and 26 gauge, round sterling silver.

Week 21 – Mauve Drusy Pendant and Neckchain

DrusyforSharon

Another drusy, with hand wrapped neckchain that was created with 16g round wire and 18g half-round wire for coiling.  Picture doesn't show ending, but neckchain is approx. 8 1/2" and I then attached a sterling silver rolo chain to end it.

Week 21 – Out of silver

P4280160

P3270096

It only took me forever to get this bag of scrap sorted, but I finally did, and got more than $300 credit towards new merchandise.  While I was waiting for my new silver, I made the bracelet from copper washers from Habor Freight, garnet and tiger eye.  It makes a nice sound when worn!

Week 21 – Cleopatra

Sister 2 – I forgot to add to the previous post that the donut beads are smoky quarts and the accent beads are a verity of smoky quartz, rutilated quartz, and onyx.   Heather

Week 21-Cleopatra-Wraps ‘n Chain

Week 21-Chain This necklace was created around the lampwork bead made by Alana from Flameboyance Glass.  She wanted a necklace made around it and I was pretty much given free reign to do what I wanted.  I wrapped copper wire around a 14 gauge sterling silver mandrel making small loops as I went along in order to hang the dangles from.  I cut copper sheet for the rectangular shaped links and then used pre-made chain for the other half of the necklace.  I will be working on getting my shapes a little more uniform…practice makes perfect.

Week 21: Stamped Silver Stacking Rings

I am now making sterling silver stacking rings. These rings are 2mm
wide, and 1mm thick. I stamp messages on these rings. The rings
pictured here is a set of 4 rings I made for myself. They have the 4
agreements from the book "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz
stamped on them. Each ring carries one agreement. I love this book, and
it helps me keep my sanity when things get tough. The book has 4 very
simple "agreements" that it says we should make with ourselves:

1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don't take anything personally.
3. Don't make assumptions.
4. Always do your best.

Its a really neat book, and these principles are explained very well in them. Just stating these here makes them seem like nothing. But the way he has explained them, one in each chapter, it makes them very effective. Love the book :-).

Week 21 – Tree of Life #1

Leaf Tree web

This tree of life has 18 beaded leaves and 18 roots. It is made of hardware store copper wire in 18g, 22g, 24g, and 28g. Shoutout to Sharilyn Miller for the inspiration for the leaf components and to Greg van Eekhout's book Norse Code for starting my thinkiing in this direction.

This piece is single-handedly responsible for my being so far behind and the wild and crazy catching up I have been doing this week. Fortunately, I am now caught up, and will be posting 2 more pieces later today. For the loooong story and the technical details, check out my blog, Silver and Crystals and Beads, Oh My! Your comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Week 21 – The Guilt Necklace

P4280143

Without going into a long story that makes me look bad, this necklace is the result of an order gone horribly wrong. The technique wanted by the customer didn't work with this stone, I got stuck and then completely unmotivated to finish it.  Lost the customer, but finally finished it so I wouldn't have to have it leering at me every time I sat down.  I do like how it turned out, but will be happy to see it go.
It uses Eni's Netted bezel and frame with a mixture of stones that play into the colors in the Fossilized Coral.  The necklace part is sterling chain with more of the same stones, intertwined thru so purchased copper chain.

Week 21 – Captured Worlds – Randi/Dax58

Captured I apologize for being a bit delayed…. my blog host (Yahoo 360) is shutting down, and I've been working on finding a new blog host that I like. I have settled on WordPress, and I think it will work out fine (see new URL below).

So I call this piece “Captured”, and I think it has a little steampunk feel
to it… It has a hand punched silver washer that I textured, dapped, and
antiqued. The jasper bead looks (to me!) like a tiny world
marble as seen from space – the whole piece is suspended from a wire wrapped frame, hence the name "Captured." I added a
matching textured bail and hang it from leather for a casual feel.

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi
