Week 34 – Crystal Clear

I love how these earrings came out. My mother in law gave me some of those Swarovski animals she had that used to be her father's. Most of them were already apart, so instead of trying to fix them, I just tore them apart completely. I had a vision of what I wanted these to look like and they came out exactly like I had planned. that doesn't happen a lot, so i was excited 🙂

GF, Swarovskis (The drops are the ones from the animals) and ruby rondelles.

Butter Jade and Rhyolite Rosary

Serpentineros

Okay, what is "butter jade" really?  Normally, when I see something labeled as "jade"…flower, new, olive, etc…I’m pretty sure it is a type of serpentine, but this one has me flummoxed!  Nevertheless, it is a pretty lemony, buttery color that deepens my love affair with green 🙂

6mm "butter jade" rounds, 8mm rhyolite jasper rondells, capped with balinese silver, handcast sterling silver crucifix/center (aren’t these pretty?), smooth Thai Hill Tribe connector beads, and my triple-wrapped links in sterling.

Melissa Muir – Week 34

Pe_pin_400This is a very special pin. It is now the preeclampsia awareness symbol. I was asked to design this piece for the Preeclampsia Foundation back in February. What an honor! It has been cast in pewter and has a clutch style pin back on the back of the heart.

This pin represents so much to me after having suffered from preeclampsia twice and losing my second daughter because of it. It is really neat to see my design turn into such a meaningful  piece of jewelry.

These were given to all the PE survivors at the Annual Preeclampsia Foundation fundraiser last month. I now have a limited supply of these on my website for sale with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Preeclampsia Foundation. If you would like more information on them please visit http://www.kcjewelbox.com.

Crystal Clear

This set of antique crystals was originally a three strand necklace.  After taking it all apart and cleaning the crystals which are well worn from age and use, I redisigned the piece into necklace, bracelet and earrings.  I think that they are Swarovski but I have no proof.  The glitter is so glitzy!!!!

Hope you enjoy!!!  C…….aka Lily and Iris001

Week 34-Vintage Crystal-Crystal Clear

Week_34vintage_viking_knitThis bracelet (for me) seems to go with every outfit.  Used a portion of my Viking Knit, added an oxidized silver bead, a lampwork disk by Alana from Flameboyance Glass, and a large vintage crystal.  Swarovski crytal dangles were added on the Viking Knit.  I made some links and a swan clasp to finish the bracelet.

Jean Power- week 34- polymer clay beads

Wow- lots of weeks to catch up on so will try and fill in all the gaps gradually over the next week.
For this week I did some more playing around with polymer clay and made some beads using a cane I made a few years ago and made some new canes all ready to turn into beads when I get the chance

Crystal Clear Pendant

P9010175 Last spring I happened to spy this coated quartz crystal cluster at a rock shop.  One side shows the larger crystals and the other shows the druzy.  I wanted to be able to wear either side out.  I wrapped the cluster with 20 g silver wire, following the contours of the cluster and made a loop on the top.  For the clear crystals, I used 2 Swarovski cubes.  I put them on 20 g wire with clear spacer beads and a little divot to hold the loop of the cluster.    Either a chain can be used or, for this, leather cord can be run through the loops coming out of the Swars.

Week 34 – Woven Bail Pendant – Randi/Dax58

Wovenbail
The owner of my LBS really liked the look of the woven bail on some of
my older pendants. She asked if I could create a class teaching how to
make them… I told her "sure, no problem" and then had to make a new
one, since I wasn’t sure if I could still do it!! The base wire/spirals
are 20g, and the smaller weaving wire is 26g. I usually antique this
type of  wirework, but the focal
lampwork bead I used has some silver accents, so I left it bright. I’m
sure I’ve modified the style of the bail a bit, but I remember learning
the basics years ago from an Eni Oken tutorial, and I highly recommend
her tutorials for any one liking this style of wirework!

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi

MOMMAKAT: Hip to be square

I’ve made one of these bracelets before using traditional round beads, but I wanted to try it with different shaped beads.. these square Sodalite beads are really nice, they have bezels on the edges and everything. I really wanted to feature them in a piece, so what is better than square frames? I’m especially pleased how well the clasp came out. Not exactly square, but angular for sure. This sold almost the second I put it out, and the gal commissioned matching earrings, which turned out great.. regretfully I didn’t get pictures of them. Hiptobesquarebraceletc072308 I used 20 or 18 GA for the frames, and 24GA for wrapping the stones in.  More pics and story at my blog: http://mkpbeadart.blogspot.com/2008/08/week-34-hip-to-be-square.html#links
