Week 26 – weirdlywired

Copperandsterlingtwistbracelet Well, this isn’t the first one of these I’ve made, but what is a first is that I made one FOR me!  It’s the perfect layering bangle and goes with pretty much everything else I’ve ever made.
14G twisted Copper and 22G twisted sterling laid into the crevices of the copper twist. Very twisted indeed. More pictures on my journal.
Thanks for looking and any comments and feedback you have is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Angie S

Week 26 — Beach Party

Wk26_beachparty_750

Because this theme was my own suggestion, I really wanted to use it even if I had to post awfully late. We are going to Wildwood on vacation at the end of the month, and I decided to make myself a pair of barefoot sandals for the occasion.  My bathing suits are both black, so I wanted to find myself a few colourful sarongs to wear over them, and make the sandals in matching colours. However, there was no time to go shopping yet except for a single fast expedition.  I have been wanting to go back for more than three weeks, but time (and the boys) did not permit it, so I finally decided to make them anyway, using a wide choice of colours instead.  They are in stainless steel with glass beads, cat’s eye and opalite which won’t be damaged if exposed to salt water, sand, chlorinated water and sunscreens. The second one is not finished yet, but I decided to post my entry anyway.  The pictures don’t do them justice because it’s hard to show them on a real foot, especially my own.  Either the angle or the lighting was wrong, and I’m no acrobat, so sticking my bejewelled foot into the light tent while taking a picture was simply out of the question!  LOL!

Jean Power- week 26- herringbone rope necklace

So I’m late, it’s not finished, it’s not on theme- and it’s beadwork- are there any more ways I could be wrong?
I made one of these beaded necklaces a few years ago and have been meaning to make some more ever since, and finally got around to it this week.
They’re simple to make- just open all your bead storage and pick out as many tubes of beads as you like (for this one I had 146!). You can keep to a colour theme, such as I did for my first one, or just choose any colours you like, and then get beading! It’s just a herringbone rope and you go from small to large beads, and then back again. There’s really no set pattern or design- just go for it!
I really enjoyed sitting and choosing colours and seeing what combinations worked- the big rules- that might help are 1- keep shiny beads limited, always make sure you add in matte beads and 2- don’ t give up on a colour if it doesn’t work straight away. Each colour will look so different once it has beads either side of it and is part of the finished piece, rather than just a row of colour that you’ve just added.
This one is just waiting now for me to add the clasp- and having worked out what I want to do to finish it, I just need to go and buy what I need- I feel a bead shopping trip coming on!

Brass & Rubber Earrings – Pam K

2aVery simple earrings this week – I die cut the brass discs and teamed them with some black rubber rings I had for chainmaille. I used a black scrap booking rivet on the disc hole to tie in with the black rubber.
I’m going to experiment some more with the rivets – I like the effect they give in finishing off the metal hole.
Cheers,
Pam (kmap on the forum)

Week 26 – Patterned wire bracelets

Before I went on vacation I ordered some patterned wire from Rio.  A friend of mine had done some pieces with it, I was itching to try.  I don’t have a jeweler’s saw (on the list!), so she was kind enough to come over and show me how to cut.  While on vacation I did a few pieces using the two different patterns I got.  This is fun stuff, I want to do more!  Two bracelets, one cuff.

Rings ‘n Things

Mothers_ringlos_frontMothers_ringnolos_front_2
I haven’t made many rings in my life. This is maybe the 3rd? Most of the ones made from wire just don’t thrill me, and I couldn’t see myself doing any better. But once I got into it, the ideas just started flowing! I’ve had some chronic pain issues that are the pits lately, can’t seem to sit or stand comfortably for more than 10 minutes at a shot. This is just the right project for me, because I can work in stages. Swarovski 2mm and a single 8mm spacer with their new purple velvet color. Let’s see – 20g, 22g, 28g round, and 21g half round, as well as the cutest Bali style teeny bead caps. Make it look like marcasite settings. As you can see, I LOS’d this after. I think even Angie will agree that I shouldn’t have. The tanzanite 2mm go really grey and get lost. In another color, everything would pop better. Thanks for looking and putting up with my lateness.

Comments always welcome, even though I really can’t sit very long to answer them, I truly appreciate your critiques! Perri

Week 26 – Beach party – Ellen/rubystar

Phone_charm_customOk, so this is not the most difficult design…  🙂   But I don’t want to fall behind and last week was crazy, so this was all I could pull together for the beach party… a friendly little reminder to take your phone with you to the beach so you can call for pizza delivery if you get hungry as you bake away in the sun!   😀   Plus, my DH works for a cell phone company, so please keep me well-stocked in beads and wire by buyin’ and usin’ those phones! LOL
