Moonlight Sonata Illusion

Wk44_sonate_750
Catching up, and trying to finish this YOJ, so this piece is one of those I made lately, but that I hadn’t had time to photograph again and post. In December, I lost all the pictures on my computer that were not posted somewhere on the web so I have to take them all over again.

Another necklace like this one has been made  with dark blue colours, much closer to my idea of a Moonlight Sonata, but I just can’t locate it at present.  It will probably jump at me in a few day…  Oh well, this one will just have to do…

Seraphinite Flag – Shaktipaj

Seraphinite_flag02 I truly love both seraphinite and andalusite, but I don’t think they work as well together as I’d hoped. I’m not a big fan of totally clear stones – the matrix and occlusions fascinate me. I wanted to see if I could make the loops for the dangles intrinsic in the wrapped body, and prevent the stone from turning in the wrap while leaving a large part of the stone open. I was successful, but it is messier than I like. I’ll probably make another at some point. 22 and 26g silver.  Perri

Jean Power- week 44- odd shaped geometric pendant

More geometric experimenting this week- my favourite thing to do!
This week I made an odd shaped pendant out of some distorted squares. I hope to incorporate this in the next part of my geometric series of beadwork.

The Rainbow Sky

Rainbowskysigned_rs Rainbow_sky_side      Wow, I’m really behind!  I have been making jewelry, I just haven’t had a lot of time to take pics and post them with the end of the year chaos!

I call this piece the Rainbow Sky.  I’ve had this final piece of amazonite for a while and finally decided to do something with it.  I got to thinking about how the rain is essential to the rainbow.  A rainbow is a sign of hope and promise, and yet it cannot exist without the rain.  Within every difficult situation, every trial, there is a rainbow.  We can use the adversity in our lives to grow stronger and to build character if we recognize it for the opportuinty that it is.  These promises are alive in the rainbow.

The amozonite is such an incredible blue .. it’s like a slice of the sky.  A literal rainbow of tundra sapphires frames the stone which is captured in a needle lace bezel setting.  A solitary blue topaz dangles at the bottom of the piece, representing the rain or adversity which eventually shows us it’s promise.

My other half says that any Drag Queen would be proud to wear it.  LOL  It is a substantial piece, and it certainly commands attention, but I’m hoping that it appeals to more than drag queens. ๐Ÿ™‚  Either way, I am satisfied with it because I wanted to represent blue skies and the promise of the rainbow at the passing of the rain/adversity and I think I captured it, even if it is a litty loud and showy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Starry Starry Night

I’ve got behind posting pictures again – sorry! I have been making things on time, but I’ve been struggling to find time to get them on the site in this busy holiday season. Anyway, this is my submission for week 44. The beads are beautiful lampwork by Laura Sparling with chainmaille and Swarovski crystals. As soon as I saw the beads on Laura’s site I knew that I wanted to use chainmaille with them, and for once the beads didn’t change my plans once I had them in my hand!

Starry_starry_night Thanks for looking.

Week 44 – Moonlight Sonata – Ellen/rubystar

E4in1_and_crystal_ab_earrings_3 Wow, am I behind! Here’s a pair of earrings that sold mere moments after I dropped them off at the gallery. Love that!  ๐Ÿ™‚

Euro 4-in-1 with moonlight-catching Swarovski drops. Yum!

Week 44 – “Icicle Earrings”

Week44_2These earrings are 3 inches long.  If I decide to oxidized them, I’ll have to change the name to "Rain Showers".  -Nancy

Week – 44

Week44

I think I’m on an earring kick… These earrings I was trying to create a little more unique design combining it with some of the techniqueโ€™s I have learned since I’ve started YOJ. The base is 20g wire hammered on the curves. Also 20g on the hook and around autumn jasper donut bead. The wire for all the wrapping is 28g. I had a lot of fun making these. Heather

Week 44: Favorite colors

I’m still not caught up. It’s not that I’m not making any jewelry but I just don’t have the time to make scans (and I’m not even talking about trying out my new camera ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ). My friend who owns a jewelry and bead shop where I also give my workshops is on a vacation to China (she is of Chinese origin) for three weeks and I’m looking after the shop all on my own. Haven’t worked a full week in a long time so I’m pretty tired after the first week. And I just caught a bad cold. But I love the work. I sold my first necklace and earrings that where displayed in the shop :). And the big benefit is that I’m surrounded by beautiful beads and I can make jewelry when I have no customers.
Oh and I almost forgot to tell about the necklace. It’s made with my favorite colors of the moment.
Labradorite, Moonstone, Dark Pearls, Iolite, Blue Chalcedone, Quartz and Silver are all strung on a coated metal wire. I hadn’t done any stringing in year but I really enjoyed picking out the beads and deciding where they would go on the necklace :).Grey_blue_necklace
