Soooo Far Behind

As the title says, I’m so far behind it’s not funny.  Many apologies to everyone.  I have been flat out with a new business that’s just blown me away.  I eat, sleep, work and the other day I thought, hey, its been days since I hugged the boy child, so I just went and found him and hugged him.  Should have seen the look on his face  lol. (teenager, the look was shock hahaha)

Here’s the first thing I’ve made myself in months.  An oval weave from Spider’s DVD’s in plated gold and silver rings.

Week 19 – “Rotation Necklace”

Week19 Week19a This piece sat on my desk for a couple of weeks, because I couldn’t figure out how to join them together and I wanted each piece to rotate.  I had a clasp that I had made for another necklace, but it was too big.  It worked perfectly for joining this pendant together.  I used 16, 18 and 24 gauge silver.   Yes, I still love circles!  -Nancy

Woven Barrel

Woven_barrelOK, and WHOO HOO! I’m caught up! This is just another experiment – but it has sort of a fishing theme – looks kind of like some of the Native American crab pots that were woven in more ancient times around my neck of the woods. As you can see, it is also very small – another "I wonder if I can……………" bead. My friends say that it is a waste of time effort and silver to make them this small – I have to sort of agree, but now I can say I did it once! 24, 26, and 28g sterling with sterling beads and too much time to mention.
Comments Always welcome!  Perri

Week 19 Jacki/stefannsgirl

This is a mother’s ring that I created from Robbie’s new book.  It is the "Hugs" ring.  Size 7 1/4.  It was supposed to be for my Mom for Mother’s Day, but she mistakenly told me that she wore this size when in reality she wears a 5 1/4.  Tiny hands.  Round pink cz 6mm and trillion emerald cz 7mm.  Sterling silver wire.  If you have not gotten this book, you really need to.  It is full of jaw dropping designs.

Comments and critques are welcome and appreciated as always.

week 19 – weirdlywired

Crabfireagategarnetfwpnecklacesetan SOOOO behind!!!
I’m cheating a bit as I made this about a month ago. All I’ve been doing lately is a big wedding commission, and I’m close to done. You’ll soon see some of it as I get caught up, but I need pictures that don’t stink…
So, this is Crab Fire Agate, Garnet and FWP.  I’m not crazy about the focal – I should have coiled the frame around the main stone before connecting the accent beads on the sides, but oh well. What I’m MOST pleased about is the rings connecting the components – I’m not sure if there’s a name for what I did there – it was an accident – but it keeps the necklace from rolling which is a problem I’ve had before and needed to solve. More pictures on my journal.
Thanks for looking, and any comments or feedback you may have!

Cheers,
Angie S

Azalea Arabians

B_egyptian_coil_graphic2      I was recently commissioned by Azalea Arabians, breeders of fine Egyptian Arabian horses, to create a couple of pieces for them to donate to the Art Auction at the upcoming ‘Egyptian Event’ horse show. I decided to make one of these pieces from an authentic ancient Egyptian technique. I created this lovely Egyptian Coil Bracelet with Turquoise and copper wire. It was lightly oxidized to give it an antiqued character. It’s absolutely lovely on! Of course I modernized it a bit with some romantic turquoise. So many horse enthusiast love turquoise, it seemed a natural combination in this case.

I am still working on the second piece for Azalea Arabians.  I am working of off inspiration from the talented Magdalena and making a horse bust in a mosaic sort of style.  Can’t describe it, you’ll just have to wait until next week. 😀
