Week 2 – Shay
Hmmm..hopefully this didn't post twice. I think I posted and then deleted it! In any case, this piece consists of argentium sterling, garnet, and aquamarine. I was inspired to make something with the aquamarine and this is what came of it:)
Wassilli Kandisky
"Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (Russian: Василий Васильевич Кандинский, Vasilij Vasil'evič Kandinskij, first name pronounced as [vassi:li]) (16 December [O.S. 4 December] 1866 – 13 December 1944) was a Russian painter, printmaker and art theorist. One of the most famous 20th-century artists, he is credited with painting the first modern abstract works"
Although my submission is not what I consider abstract…it is what it is. I've been wanting to teach myself how to create step bezels for larger stones. In this case I opted to use Swarovski rivolis…crystal and tanzanite to be exact. As much as I'd like to keep the necklace after all the trouble it gave me…off it goes in the mail to my sister. =)
I created the step bezels using 30 gauge sterling silver sheet…soldering the ends together first on the outer layer…determining the necessary height and length on the inner layer…soldering it's ends together…then fitting the inner inside the outer and soldered them together. Once those steps were complete I soldered 30 gauge sheet to what is the back of the setting.
I've added punches of 1/2 round gold-filled wire…because my sister prefers gold.
Thank you,
Deborah aka Sneekbead
Week – 3 Shay
I've been yearning to do a mandala piece for about a year now. This is my first one, and I really enjoyed making it. Lots of delicate little beads (about 2.5-3mm for the most part) — well I should say delicate for what I'm used to! I'd like to think that I may begin a mandala series, but I do tend to be one who moves rapidly from one style to another so who knows! Both the blue and teal beads are apatite, with 4 amethysts in the center. I hope it radiates with the peace that I felt in making it.

Week 1 – Shay
Hi everyone,
I've decided that since I can't even begin to keep up with the themes, I'd at least get myself to post once a week. Of course it is week 5 so I'm a bit behind. I sure have been enjoying everyone else's work though! Cheers to a bunch of wonderful artists here.

Week 5 – Bronze Age
Boy did I come kicking and screaming to this weeks theme. I just could not get my mind or hands around this one. I tried several times to create different pieces and failed at all but this last one. So here it is, a bracelet with glass beads that look bronze. I used 28g craft wire and a macrame stitch to incorporate them all. Since I don't have basic metal clasps, the clasp used is gold-filled and will remain there. Thanks for looking.
Week 1-Gone with the Wind-Virtues
In Gone with the Wind I would put the word Virtue and Ashley together. Oh, how Scarlett loved Ashley but Ashley loved Melanie and no amount of pleading would sway Ashley from marrying Melanie….
Well, I found this Virtue charm (one of several charms) on a stretchy bracelet in a second hand store. I didn't know what I was going to do them it but knew I liked them. Alana from Flameboyance Glass had shown me a bead she had made and thought it would look great on a pin. She said "some day I'll ask you to make me something with this". Well, I managed to take that bead without her realizing it and made a pin for her. The Virtue charm describes Alana. Thus a pin was born and given to Alana.
I had a wonderful time creating this pin. Hope you've enjoyed the story behind it.
Visit me at Perles and LIfe if you get an opportunity.

Melissa Muir – Week 5
We had a snow day today, and I mean a SNOW DAY! We got over a foot of snow. In between rounds of shoveling I actually got down to my studio and made this little beauty. The frame is 14 ga. Sterling and the inside wires are 20 gauge. The opal is an imitation, so sadly, it isn't real. Darn.
I am really happy with how this piece turned out.
If you want to see other pictures of my work or class projects, please visit my design journal and website. As always, I would love to hear your thoughts on any of my pieces.
Melissa Muir – Week 4
This set was made for a friend of mine. She likes copper and silver. Luckily, I work a lot with copper and silver. 😉
Both shapes are made with nothing more than a hammer and a swage block. It is the same way I made the lily for the November issue Art Jewelry article I wrote.
Melissa Muir – Week 3
A challenge was given on another forum I belong to. We were challenged to make a piece using 10 gauge wire. So all of the silver on this piece began its life as 10 gauge round wire. I pierced the copper design with nothing more than my jewelers saw. I love doing that stuff. I only broke one blade doing this one. Not bad huh?
