Jean Power- weeks 4-6- geometric 2.8.1
Oh no- so far behind!
I have been making pieces, just not photographing and uploading them.
I promise to remedy this and spend the next week catching up- but not all at once so I don’t completely swamp everyone else.
This necklace took me months and months and was eventually finished within hours of the deadline I was making it for- I just about managed to get it photographed and in the post in time- phew.
It’s one of my favourite pieces ever- even though I’m not completely happy with the colours and how they progress. Even thought the pattern of changing stays the same all the way along, I feel at one point the colours look like they jump and I wasn’t happy with this- but no time to change it- I’d just have to bead another one and see if that worked better!
it’s in the finals of Bead & Buttons Bead Dreams so anyone going to the show this year will get to see it- lucky you!
I subtitled it ‘Collar for a Rangoli Girl’ after being inspired by the colours and shapes used in rangoli.
You can see another view of the piece here on my website

Week 6- Gemstone and Silver Multistrand Necklace – Lucinda/PurpleRhian
Gemstone and Silver Multistrand Necklace
Kyanite, Apatie, Iolite and Peridot, strung with Hill Tribe Silver and finished with Sterling Silver chain and clasp. More in my blog.
Wild winter winds
Cold winds, frozen winds, they blare at you and make your face turn red, purple or blue.
Just like these earrings , which have faceted briolettes of rose quartz and chalcedony, enhanced by a faceted aquamarine rondelle
Week 6 – Eni Oken
3/4 persian? I think so . . .
Moving on to week 6, due 11 Feb. Well, I made most of this in a timely manner on the flight home on the 4th, but then I set it aside for about three weeks. I grabbed it to occupy me during an hour-an-a-half wait at the doctor’s office. Didn’t plan on waiting that long; I finished it and then waited some more!
I set out to do a half-persian 3-in-1 of purple anodized aluminum and black O-rings. The rubber rings are noticeably bigger, and while it technically worked, it looked really scraggly and uneven. Then I decided to fill in the empty too-big-ness of the black rings with another row of aluminum, and that seems pretty satisfactory.
Week 6
Here are a pair of earings for week 6, again made on time, just not posted. The coiling took so long I nearly gave up, how some of you do such elaborate pieces I will never know. The colours look a bit wierd in the photo’s, they match much better in real life.
Sarah.
Clearly Crystals
This is the "Clearly Crystals" pattern from the February 2007 Bead and Button magazine that I made for my cousin to wear as a bridesmaid in her sister’s wedding.
The wedding colors were Tiffany Blue and Plum, but my cousin really likes purple, so I used Lilac for the darker shade and Alexandrite for the lighter one (which will turn blue in the right light).

Week 6 -no wind! :^)
Well, I guess after week 5 the winds really went out of my sails! I just didn’t know how to follow up that piece, and didn’t want to give anything but the very best… I guess though that not all my pieces are going to be showstoppers, so here’s what I have been working on… First pendant is a turquoise cab, witha sterling frame (coiled) and embellished with sterling and river stone beads. I really like this piece and enjoyed how it turned out. The second one is african jade, bbut this one is a large focal bead, so I made an eni-style frame with similar embellishments to the turquoise piece…
Week 6 – woven cuff
On Saturday I caught up with some friends and we each made an eni oken woven cuff.
It took about twelve hours to make and more wire than i care to remember. I’m really happy with the end result and it fits perfectly on my wrist.
The bracelet is made from various shapes and sizes of amazonite, yellow chrysophrase, chalcedoney, flower tuquoise, freshwater pearls, swarovski crystals, a few glass rondelles, sterling silver wire and clasp, pineapple quartz and lots of bali silver….whew!
One of the green stones looks like it has a hairline crack – its not – i just discovered and eyelash on the camera lens!!!

Snousey – Week 6 – GF and Amethyst bracelet
This GF and Amethyst bracelet was ordered by a co-worker as a gift for her friend. I think the GF wire really makes the beautiful purple of the Amethyst stand out, and adds a warmth to it as well. Purple is one of my favorite colors, and had this been in SS, I would have had a difficult time letting it go!
Deb – I told you I didn’t stop making my wire bracelets! It was actually nice to get back to these after all the chain maille.
