Week 3
A ring made in stainless steel euro 4-1 pattern. My first chainmaille ring! Sized as a prototype for a big burly guy!
My Beautiful Balloon -Shaktipaj
Sometimes experiments are just that – experiments. Not meant for anything special. I was kicking around ideas and a way to show off these really fiery labradorite drops. What came out was a bit of fun, but I think it will live in my sunny front window, as it just doesn’t speak to me as jewelry. I do like the dewdrop effect on the bottom, though. There is some interesting possibility there. Lots of 28 and 26 g sterling, sterling beads, LOS (of course!) Maybe re-vamped as a hair stick? Let me know what you think…

Denim and Pearls
I love the denim blue color of these tab stones and the froth of pearls. I seem to be hooked on “clusters”
of pearls and stones.
Seed earrings
Another late entry, another pic from the professional photographer that I’m not totally excited by. Sterling earrings, domed and granulated with 14K. Each earring measures at 1 inch in length.
Rainbow Serpent
The first thing that camme to mind when faced with the theme Australian Culture was something with Opals. Australia exports the most beautiful opals in the world. Then I did a little research and came across the Aboriginal Rainbow Serpent and fell in love with the idea. So here is my rendition of the Rainbow Serpent. Created from 3 separate pieces of SS wire and rough Sapphires in Red/Ruby, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. I choose to use rough gestones over the traditional faceted because the Australian outback is rough, and I felt they did a better job at representing the culture. Robbie
Week 3 — Bezel Pendant
Falling behind a little….January is a tough month.
I haven’t decided whether to hang this pendant on leather, or chain, but wanted to get it posted anyway. My main goal for this exercise, was to practice my bezel-making and soldering. I bought a bunch of cheap cabs at a local lapidarist, to experiment on. The middle one is a piece of malachite stalagmite he cut into slabs and polished. I really like it. Kind of looks like tree rings, doesn’t it? I soldered tubing on the back of each element and attached them with jump rings. I rather like the movement of this piece. I forget what the top and bottom stone are and I can’t find the slip! I’ll have to ask again, next time I visit the shop!
Week 3
Due to my circumstances this is another completed UFO. I made the chain and attached most of the shells and pearls quite a while ago but then I was too lazy to make more headpins to balance out the pearls or to make a clasp. I did both of those last night. One of my aims for the FSOJ is to actually finish jewellery rather than having 90% completed but unwearable items lying around.
I call this "Dreaming of Le Central" after my favourite French restaurant in Denver and the only place I’ve ever eaten mussels. The shells come from my local beach.
Sterling silver, freshwater pearls, mussel shells.

Week Three – Australian Culture
Faith Manifesto – another cross
I’m really not a religious person. I don’t go to church, I only sometimes "talk" to God in my thoughts. But symbols, those of the strongest meaning, recognised all over the world, were always inspiring for me. I made this one today. It’s a men’s necklace – the cross hangs from a Greek leather cord. I find the design so interesting I will place it on my list of tutorials-to-write for sure 😉

Thank you 🙂
Azure Skies – Week 3 – Amari
I know I’m not following the themes yet… still playing catch up, but I do plan to have a go once I get back in the swing of things! Blue skies… I think maybe I have my own theme running here…lol.
I noticed recently that I’ve been neglecting the colour blue. I’ve been making things in lilac and lavender, turquoise and teal – but not really blue. I’ve had these little kyanite drops for a while now, so I got some tiny faceted sapphire beads to go with them, and wrapped the frames with Hill Tribe seed beads. I think they’d look great with blue jeans!
More on my blog, and pictures on my website. Maz 🙂
