Melissa Muir – Week 11

Deep_velvet_earrings I am so far behind it isn't even funny. I don't know that I will ever get caught up, but I will sure try. Just not all at once. But I do have some things to post now.

This is a pair of earrings that I made for a friend of mine. Actually, I made two different pair and let her choose between the two.

Week 11-Pride and Prejudice-Were there Cowgirls?

Cowgirl I don't think there were Cowgirls in 19th century England, were there?  Thus, I am frightfully off topic.

I was in a Cowgirl kinda mood and based this bracelet on a design by Ruth Rae, Deborah Edwards, Kelly Snelling, and Judith Thibaut in A Charming Exchange.   The Cowgirl Rules charm was made by peppermintcharms.  I cut the copper oval, stamped, texturized, and oxidized it.  In an effort to better my skills at jumprings, I made these jumprings along with the coiled links

Week 11 – Pride and Prejudice

I am here againe after long break, oh-oh… I really had very hot time in this cold spring 🙂 Anyway, I love that movie very much and I thought during long time what I want to express after words – conflict, romanse, time period or portraites of my favourite actors. And finally I decided to show my inspiration from wedding bunch which was simple, pure and very tender… I used natural pearl at the center of pin.   Plastika9

Wk 11 – fused fine silver

IMG_6578_edited-1
Fused and hammered fine silver links.  The upper and lower links were stretched into ovals before hammmering – the smaller centre links were left as circles.

I will be skipping weeks 12 and 13 (planned – not panicking because I fell behind).  My Creativity Journal has this same photo this week.

Week 11 – Amethyst Sage Bracelet

Again I am not on theme, but here is a bracelet that I just completed.  It is an amethyst sage cabochon that was cut and polished by my husband, which I have wire wrapped into a bracelet of sterling silver and 14k gold filled wire, with accents of amethyst faceted beads.

Week 11 – C-Koop with Copper

CKoop Copper2

I've had these great enamel on copper pieces by C-Koop here for a trunk show and finally found some time to mess around with a few pieces. I coiled copper wire around the tubes and pulled it all together with some hand made links. A touch of LOS to kill the orange and it's done!

Week 11- piercing and sawing

Week112009  Okay, this one is much nicer in person.  I am going to LOS it, but trying to catch up.  Two of the rivets turned out badly and the tubing is too small, but what I had.The entire piece is a prototype for a class, but it is too involved, so I am going to drop the front frame and do it with only two pieces instead of three.  Need to show piercing and sawing and then the rivets.  I am thinking that the student can pick their own design.  Oh well, still about two weeks behind.  I have made alot of things, but not much that challenged me and that is one of my personal goals this year.

Citrine Cathedral – Shaktipaj

Citrine-Cathedral_01
Citrine-Cathedral_07
I've been so slack this year online. When you get sick, something has to give. I'm late, and behind, but I really don't wnat to catch up all at once. Here is a 'diddle' – something I worked on during a break from writing a tutorial on another piece. Natural untreated citrine, with a slight cloud on the side. I like the overall thought, but It sits a bit high and doesn't mesh with the sides well. I'll work on it! Comments are always welcome, critiques just make the work better, so feel free! Week 11 – Copper Fan Pendants – Randi/Dax58

2Fans
Sooooo….. more corrugated copper!
The one
on the left is all copper – I added a copper wire spiral as a
functional design element (it "hides" the edge of the fan) , and it is
also the bail. It has a basic LOS antiquing patina. The piece on the
right uses the same shape and template, but instead of the heavy hammered spiral, I added a small
lampwork bead with a copper wire spiral to "hold" it tight to the fan. Then I antiqued the copper and gave it a warm red color by flaming it.

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi
