Melissa Muir – Week 20
I am not positive of the type of this stone. I believe it is either an included crystal quartz or perhaps even a low quality moonstone. 1/2 the stone is transparent and you can easily see the designs cut out behind the stone when it is placed on a darker background or held to the light. You can also see some more pictures of this one on my design journal.
The silver has been blackened with Silver Black. It turned out really cool. Sorry the picture doesn't do it justice.
Week 20 – Middle Ages
This necklace is called sister 1. the reason is, when I first started making this piece it was a pair of earrings and when I got to a certain point I realized they were going to be way to heavy for earrings. So I created two necklaces that have the same start but two different personalities. Heather

Week 20-Middle Ages-I know it’s Simple
I know that these earrings are Simple but they still pose a challenge for me and that is getting them both to look exactly the same. Also, after making my charm bracelet (Week 19), it was nice to have something a little less intense to work on. They are 16 gauge copper with a Czech crystal.

Week 20 – Catching up
I've wrapped very few donuts, have a really nice colorful one so decided to use this beat up Hematite one as practice. Turned out the chain portion took way longer than the donut itself. I used scraps, so if you see some parts are oxidized, and others arent, that's why. I haven't done the whole thing yet because 1. I hate the buffing after and 2. My tumbler is broken. So it works for now, but I think it'll be much better once it's all oxidized and tumbled up nice!
Have a creative day!

Week 20
Simple pearl drops on hammered sterling earwires. I think I'm keeping these.
C&C always welcome. There is another photo of these on my Creativity Journal.
I will not be posting an entry for week 19. I made a piece but wasn't happy with it and dismantled it without photographing it. That was unintentional but I am content with the knowledge that I did make it in the first place.
Middle Ages
Middle Ages is very interesting period of growing new traditions after ancient cultures. Nothing superbright, nothing explosive, only nature and faith. This pendand is very laconic and looks like amulet. Probably it is.
Week 20-Chain accents
I'm late this week and I need to get something posted before I take off for a show this weekend. These were made from some soldered frames that I had in my spare parts box and I've always wanted to try wrapping the edge with small rolo chain. I've observed that the artists who use this technique attach the chain with about a gazillion wraps of tiny 30 gauge wire. I didn't want to do that and you might suspect that laziness was the reason. Although you wouldn't be totally wrong, the real reason is that I'm trying to keep the price of my jewelry affordable. I think I would have liked them better if I had spent the extra hours to entirely wrap the frame. But my observation at the shows that I've done so far this year is that people are still buying as much jewelry but their price points are lower, and I'm making attempts to adapt to the state of the economy in Michigan. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D Thanks for looking.
Week 20 – Simple Wrap Pendant – Randi/Dax58
This is another attempt at creating a simple pendant with a lampwork bead (some people prefer simple!). This style has a heavy gauge hammered frame, complete with spiral accents. The bail is made as a separate component, to add a little movement to the pendant as it hangs.
Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry. Thanks, Randi
