wk2_Delia Stone_ Netting w/ accent stitch

Many of you are familiar with my needlelace obsession. :)  It continues with this post.  I have discovered that I really like the look of needlelace on a teardrop shaped stone, and more than that I've discovered I love adding this little accent stitch to finish it off.  I like the something extra that it seems to add to the overall piece.  Here are two examples of a netted bezel being finished off with the accent stitch.  The first is a lovely piece of wonderstone with a Tundra Sapphire accent, and the second is of course a lovely piece of labradorite w a Montanna blue Swarovski accent.

Something old … with a new twist.  Not a big twist, mind you, but enough to make it a bit more unique.  Thanks for looking.  I'll be updating my blog as soon as I have the chance.

Mother of Pearl Clasp and Bead Soup Bracelet

After a brief hiatus, a short little vacation, and playing catchup with my painting commissions, I am back.
The purpose behind this design was to use up components so that I can eventually settle in on the designs that I prefer to work with now, namely wire and metal. When I first started getting into jewelry design, I (like so many) bought up strands of stones, pearls and components without having a direction in mind. I started this bracelet with the desire to try making my own toggle clasps. I have evolved beyond this point now but have yet to use up all the bits and pieces that I accumulated. So every so often I like to make this kind of “bead soup” design and work through more of my supply.Mopclaspbluegreenopen

Wired Surprise – ShaktiPaj

EvassurpriseI am behind (in spades) so I’m going to post a few things in fits and starts to catch up. A friend of mine asked me to make some earrings that used the wrapped components of the necklace I made for Eva de Witte in the Secret Santa gift exchange. I’m happy to oblige! The thing I like most about earrings is how you can get both a side and front view  in one pic.  These feature a lemon quartz and tiny tourmalines, as well as a pair of handmade earwires with a special twist. All LOS’d and ready for a night on the town! Comments and critiques are welcome, Perri
More details on their creation are in my Blog.

Sooo late!

So I’m way late posting and not close to theme, but, oh well!  I had some pieces professionally photographed for a show I want to do in the spring, and honestly, I’m not thrilled with the results.  Anyway, here is one of them, a 34 inch necklace of assorted circles and ovals.  Three_ovals_necklacer

Week 2

Turquoise_charm_2Last summer I made a silver, copper and turquoise/turquoise-colour charm bracelet that got a lot of compliments. I decided I would like another one in just copper and turquoise and made the charms a few weeks before my dad died. The two days right after his death I stayed calm by sawing a gazillion copper rings some of which went into this bracelet.

Copper, turquoise, raku, glass, ceramic.

Sweet Violets – Week 2 – Amari

Sweetviolets2My little front garden leaves a lot to be desired.. it’s on my list of things to get sorted out this year. It really does its own thing – mostly ferns in the summer that take over and choke the space. But in the spring there are a few daffodils, and the tiniest patch of little violets in the corner near the door that I always forget are there until one day they start to flower and catch my eye.

These earrings are to remind me to save that little plant and move it somewhere safe when I re-vamp the garden!  I’ve used tiny peacock freshwater pearls, faceted tanzanite beads and little iolite drops for the lavender and violet shades, and Hill Tribe faceted beads for the picot edging along the bottom.

More on my blog and pictures on my website. Maz 🙂

Week Two – Capricorn Zodiac Sign

Charm_1 Ok I’m starting to catch up.  Here is my pendant –  Zodiac sign for capricorn.  I know that Garnet is their stone and Green is one of their colors so I combined the two to complement each other.  Hope you like it and let me know what I can do to make it better!  I ran out of steam on this one….. 🙂

A bit late and not on theme, but…

174bI have to show you the most beautiful labradorite I’ve ever seen 🙂
The heart of this unique necklace is a huge, polished labradorite teardrop pendant, opalescent with a gorgeous blue fire. Another outstanding component is a hand-crafted Victorian style cross I’ve created from scratch. The necklace features also a beautiful sterling Bali bead and gorgeous faceted labradorites in shapes of marquise and small rondelles. All those elements hang on a chain made of long links, which was finished with a hand-crafted clasp. I’ve antiqued the whole piece to give it some spirit of past. Sterling and fine silver.
The cross measures 5.5cm by 3.5cm (2.2” by 1.4”)
The labradorite pendant measures 4.5cm by 3cm (1.8” by 1.2”)
The chain is 90cm (36”) long but its length can be adjusted with the clasp.
More pictures in my gallery.

Thank you 🙂
