Week 32 – More Clay Beads
Playing with colors. I had a big pendant in desert colors, but sold it before I took pictures of it. -Nancy
Week 32- Shaktipaj
I call this the Coral Jewel. I finally got this type of completely hollow bead to remain stable without wrapping the crud out of every little join. Hope you folks like it. Perri
week 32 – knotting experiment
I am trying to improve my knotting technique, and I liked the color combo – apple green chalcedony smooth briolettes, bali silver barrel beads and vintage Swarovski crystals in jonquil on green silk beading cord.
I really like the results!
Week 32 – weirdlywired
It’s funny I’m posting this above Jean’s wonderful beaded bracelets – I’m at the opposite end of the spectrum in regards to my feelings of them!
It took me FOREVER to finish this. It isn’t that it’s hard, but oh so tedious…this is a spiral stitch rope, finished off with copper cones that I had to make because I couldn’t find anything else that I liked (or long enough to cover my ragged ends).
More pictures on my journal if you’d like to see more. Sorry to be "clogging the blog", but I think I’ve finally broken out of a creative funk that started after I finished a wedding commission in June and then had to prepare for teaching a four week class.
Thanks for looking and any comments or feedback you may have!
Thanks,
Angie S

Jean Power- week 32- Cherry Crochet brooch
I’ve been going mad for crochet recently- you can see more on my blog – but this is the 1st piece of jewellery I’ve crocheted in a while. It doesn’t get much better than a hot pink crocheted cherry brooch!
Week 32 — The Alchemist’s Crucible
The best known goals of the alchemists were the transmutation of common metals into Gold or Silver.
— Wikipedia
This is my own modern version of alchemy, made with PMC3 and Argentium wire. This old clay was very dry, and I had to drown it in water before using it. Unfortunately, a few
tiny lumps remained even after extensive kneading. I’m sure that the end results would have been better with newer clay. As it is, there are a few small lumps here and there, and there is some pitting on the surface, which is why I preferred not to LOS. I did not want to make the pitting more obvious.

Week 32 – Molten Metal – Ellen/rubystar
Not on theme this week. I figured that if I tried to get molten metal, I just might melt something, or worse, set the house on fire! 🙂
I made this necklace for me (ya gotta do that sometimes…) to go with a new black and white skirt and all the shades of grey that are going to be big this fall. (I’m sure that my dogs, with whom I spend much of my time, will appreciate my nod to fashion! LOL)
I had a 100-inch silver chain necklace that I loved to wear, either hanging long (doubled) or wrapped around my neck a bunch of times into a choker. But that’s a lotta silver all together, so I decided to break it into several smaller pieces and mix it with beads. This necklace is about 46 inches long — just enough to wrap comfortably around my neck three times — so I can wear it long, doubled or tripled. And it will go with everything.

new techniques aquired
Okay, late and not on topic, but my submission is a culmination of 2 weeks prepartion to have a go at etching. I have been fascinated by Melissa’s etching techniques, and was encouraged and inspired to give it a try.
After an entire morning (and about 6 sawblades) of struggling to saw out my centerpiece, I finally got the feel and was able to cut the other 4 pieces and then some with one blade. I fabricated everything, sawed the rings (16ga copper), the links (22 ga copper sheet), etched the links (I see all the flaws, but I love it just the same), LOS’d it, and tumbled. It is so light and comfy, it jingles nicely, and I am so stoked to have finally ETCHED!
Not Molten Sheila
Not even a flame. . . .quickly put together and quite sloppy but. . . . I kinda like it. I think I’ll do it again when I’m not late. Forged, wrapped and cursed copper with pearl.

Have you ever done something silly? Like … put your stone in backwards, for instance? Heh… well, I certainly have. That’s what I did with this piece, silly me. The other side of the focal stone is really the more attractive side, but the dash of bling from the swarovskis helps to dress it up and make the overall piece more attractive. I’m actually considering redoing it. I like it well enough that I don’t think I need to rush to redo it. Maybe after my September show, if it doesn’t sell, then I’ll be settled enough to redo it but right now I’m really more focused on adding to my inventory in preparation for the show.
