What is ‘CWJ’s Year of Jewelry’ ?

The Year of Jewelry (YOJ) is an ongoing weekly ‘personal challenge’ project for jewelry makers. It is run in conjunction with membership and participation at the Creative Wire Jewelry Forum, so if you’re not a member there already,. take a few minutes to pop over and join,. you’ll be happy you did.

As a group of jewelry making artists of all skill levels, the challenge is to make one piece of jewelry each week,. photograph it and post the picture of your piece here YOJ 2009. You can view previous YOJs in the following links. Here you can find YOJ 2007 and YOJ 2008. The last 13 weeks here FSOJ Sept06- Dec06 which was cut short so that we may continue the project in the new format and also bring it in line with the yearly calendar, the previous 52 weeks are here FSOJ Sept05- Sept06 and the earliest YOJ here in its previous format on Webshots YOJ 04-05.

What makes this a ‘personal challenge’?, you may be thinking,.. when it’s done as a group. Everyone has different lives, different agendas, different priorities and different reasons for doing this project. For some, it’s a challenge just to stay committed to something for an extended period of time. For others, the challenge is to follow the weekly theme suggestions. Some weeks, time is sufficient to produce an awesome piece,. while other weeks, time will only allow for a quick pair of earrings. As a group,.we are encouraged and inspired throughout the weeks,.we watch each other improve our skills, try new techniques we would never have considered and become in awe of the wonderful ever-growing gallery of eye candy we can show for our collective efforts.
