Week 30 – Beach Party
So think I'll cheat for most of the posts I'll be making. My challenge wasn't to be on time, it was to be on theme. Although I really wanted to and I enjoyed investigating about different topics, due to external issues, I wasn't able to follow themes for all the year. However, I wanted to at least complete my posts. I promise I'll be better next year!
This simple pair of earrings could b e worn to a beach party… colors that remind me of bright skies and the ocean.
Catching Up Tactics~Impression Jasper Rosary
Been trying to catch up since I am shamefully behind and the only way I will be able to is to show what I have been working on, getting inventory up for fall shows! October is the month of the rosary after all, even though these will be posted for July-Sept catchups! I do love making rosaries, the only drawback is not being able to focus on other cool new wire techniques I have been working on in my seemingly non-existent spare time!
This is one of my favorites of the last few that I have created…6mm impression jasper, 8mm faceted Czech glass, tiny bronze-colored czech glass, triple-wrapped bronze wire and handcast bronze crucifix/center.
I love the way it looks vintage, like it has been prayed with and loved lots! 🙂

Melissa Muir – Week 30
Spiculum earrings formed with nothing more than a hammer and swage block. I wrapped them with sterling silver wire. The earrings measure approximately 2" from top of the ear wire to the bottom of the cone.
beach party
I had this finished last week but di dnot take a pic until this morning. I had purchased three small baskets of shells last season when I leanred how to wire wrap using a net bezel. I wanted to see what it would look like with shells instead of cabs. Then I was left with a ton of shells! I got the idea to use them when I saw the beach party theme here in FSOJ! So I spend several hours drilling holes into seashells then wiring them up! This is the result! I have to go back and drill more shells. I want the bracelet fuller! I love the tinkling sound of dangles!
Week 30
I had fun with these earrings. Forged, oxidized, annealed and forged again. I even mad the copper balls sitting in the cups. I slapped some silver paste on them before I fired them. They also make their own music.
Jean Power- week 30- polymer clay beads
I took a break from beading this week and played around with polymer clay. My previous attempts at using it haven’t been good so I wasn’t optmistic before the day but by the end I was delighted with what I had produced.
I loved playingwith the clay and producing basic canes which I then turned into some nice, subtle beads – okay not subtle but I love them.
Will definitely play with polymer clay again soon- lots of ideas for colour combos are swirling around in my mind!
Thoughts of Pele–Volcanic Embers
When I think of volcano or embers I think HOT, glowing, fiery. I had these 3 dichroic beads that said they wanted to be used. I found the dichroic tubes and the fiery round beads at my LBS. The two connector beads have gold texture around the rims. I’m not real proud of this, however, I can wear it and be happy. The white background does not do the dichroic justice.

The clasp hooks so that the round beads dangle.
Thanks for looking.

MOMMAKat: Spiral Bracelet
This piece is from 18GA? and again free-hand forming. To keep the spiral segments as even as possible, I cut the wire first in equal lengths. I made the hook on the bracelet.. I think it looks pretty good. The spirals are gently hammered, the loop connecting each link I hammered extra for strength. As always more pics at my website: http://mkpbeadart.blogspot.com/
Sea Empress
This oriental pendant was made from scratch of sterling and fine silver. I’ve addorned it with dark blue kyanite (marquis, oval and round) and many gorgeous rondelles of dark blue sapphire. The whole piece was oxidised and polished.
The pendant is 8.5cm long (together with the twisted wire circle and the sapphire rondelle hanging below it) and 4cm wide in the widest point. More pictures in my gallery.
Thank you 🙂
