Melissa Muir – Week 18
Pendant made with sterling silver and a blue dichroic glass cabochon. The back is pierced with a saw.
Week 18-cuff, first try
This is the prototype of the other cuff that I posted. The raku bead twirled, so I added the small zig zag wire for stability. I wasn’t happy with the negative space here, thus the surrounding beads in the next design.
Week 18 – Captured Bead necklace
A cage of sterling silver treated with LOS encloses a citrine heart enclosed with fine wire threaded with tiny pearls. The citrine is filled with fire that has rainbow glints in the sun. Thanks for this design goes to Kathy Frey, and her book, "Elegant Wire Jewelry."
week 18 – “Mother Nature”
Playing catch up after getting ready for my first big show of the season!
An Eni inspired piece in copper, unakite & rhodonite with garnet and peridot accents finish with chain mail.

Jean Power- week 18- coiled hoop earrings
Simple wire and bead earrings yet again- I must admit I did have great fun trying to come up with many different, simple projects and got some great pairs of earrings as a result!

Week 18 – Janice
Posting late — hadn’t taken a pic of these, we’ve been wearing them – these are two super simple pairs of earrings I made for my Mom (but you note I said we’ve BOTH been wearing them – they are just so easy to wear)
Week 18 – Sacred Rites
I’m not on theme for this week. I made a bracelet following Sharylin Miller’s Tribal Treasures DVD. I was excited to do this one since I had found that gorgeous Hill Tribe bead on my last trip (she uses them on her DVD) The other bracelets I had done like this had been in more aqua tones, but for this one I went more earthy tones. Smoky quartz, jade, aventurine, lemon quartz and citrine, with lots of silver.
Warrior Woman Sacred Rights
These are a quick pair of earrings to help catch up! Warrior Woman- sacred rites to womanhood.
The Promise
The Promise was composed by Michael Nyman to illustrate one of my favourite films – The Piano.
I wanted to create something that would refer to this film and to Nyman’s incredible music. This pendant seems to do it so perfectly. It’s form bringd the spirit of those times and colours are a reflection of the way Jane Campion presented New Zealand – rain and salty sea water, mud and exotic plants…
I’ve decided not to wipe the oxide, but only to polish the piece, hence the silver turned out alost identical in colour to tiny freshwater pearls used in this piece – opalescent in brown, black and grey but also blue and green. The stones are tourmaline quartz in a form of a large briolette and faceted aquamarines in green shades. All in sterling and fine silver. The pendant measures 8cm / 3.2”. I will probably change the clasp – this one seems to be off topic 😉 (and so I did: here’s a new clasp ).
More pictures in my gallery.
Thank you,

Week 18
This is a paua shell pendant that does have a hole drilled in the top, but I decided to make a wire bail and dress it up a little with a Viking bezel. For those of you who have done Viking Knit, it utilizes the same stitch (but mistakes on the bezel show up better because you don’t have the drawplate step to hide them!)
This is going to my wonderful mother tomorrow, totally her colors.
