Melissa Muir – Week 16

Wired_waves_cuff This bracelet is a big deal for me since I don't use beads. But one of the shops I teach at has been begging me to add more beads to the pieces, so this one is as beaded up as I could possibly make it and still have it look nice. 😉

They like it, let's just hope the students do too.

The frame is 3 pieces of 16 gauge wire that is wrapped together in different places with 18 ga 1/2 round wire and then the beads are stitched on with 26 gauge sterling wire.

Cork Screw Earrings – Week 16

CorkscrewEarrings

These earrings were actually created on a cork and they screw in like a…well….corkscrew. This is not my original design. I saw a woman wearing them and asked her to remove them so I could get a closer look. I figured out a way to make them by drilling a hole in a cork, inserting 2 lengths of wire down the center and wrapping the the rest in a spiral down the outside of the cork. After pulling the wire out of the cork, I attached white matt glass to the "pin". Voila!

Week 16-An Affair to Remember-Love and Pearls

OK, I'm going to admit this…..An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr is my all-time favorite movie.  I know it's corny but I'm a romantic at heart.  This is a tear jerker but has a happy ending!!!

Week 16-Love ID I call this week's submission my Love ID bracelet.  It's based on a design by Ruth Rae, Lou McCulloch, and Catherine Witherell from  A Charming Exchange (I just love this book).  It has pearls and lampwork beads along with a brass sheet metal that I sawed and stamped with XOXOX's.  Added some dangles and Week 16-Love ID 1 charms for good measure.

An Affair to Remember

This movie kept me impressed so long time and I always had a hope to make something in honore of this magical love story. Ring – because this is symbol of unity between people, Moebius band shape – because it could be other perspective (but in same reality it is impossible), black crystalls – because you understand it.

Week 16 – An Affair to Remember

I've been so busy trying to make up inventory for the next shows that I forget to post my pieces here. I especially don't like posting when I don't have a piece that matches the theme. This labradorite pendant seems to me to fit this theme so I've decided to post it.  This labradorite is one of the stones I was lucky to find in AZ this past winter, it has lots of blue flash and I added a 8mm freshwater pearl for an accent.

Week 16 – fused fine silver earrings

IMG_7277_edited-1 I have done quite a bit of fusing lately using fine silver wire.  This is one of a number of pairs of similar earrings I have made.  I love how the look changes when I hammer the links.

There will be another photo up on my Creativity Journal shortly.

Kristen Syddall – An Affair to Remember

Hi again,

Not a great start as I'm late for my second week but computer problems turned out worse than expected and I'm still trying to get it sorted.

Thank goodness for the kids pc's!

Now all I could think of for Affair to Remember was lots of pearls so although not really related, I decided to make a pearl pendant.

And here tis…

Pearl Pendant

Cheers,

Kristen

Week 16 – An Affair to Remember

Named after the lead actress, Deborah Kerr. AAffairDeborah1

An
Affair to Remember has been said to be the most romantic movie of all
time. Being that red is the color of romance, I created this bracelet
using sparkling, faceted deep red rhodolite garnets. I adorned it with
an intricate charm made of sterling silver wire wrapping because love
is not only beautiful, it is complex too.

Week 16 Not on Theme

Hi Ladies, sorry for my absence. The sewing muse kidnapped me during the Memoirs of a Geisha theme- I finished my Kanzashi for that week on time, just now got it posted ; )  The exercise in combining fabric with silver opened a Pandora’s box that led me the way of the sewing machine for a while ; ) Kept up with the goings on around here but try as I might I couldn’t get away from fabric to save my life ; ) The muse of sewing finally let off her grip for the jewelry work to take lead again, and it allowed me to finally figure out what to do with these fantastically delicious double drilled rhodochrosites I got back in January.  I’m not on theme, just excited to have my muse back ; )The idea for the stitch in this comes from the weave Lisa Barth uses in her woven bezel tutorial over at Jewelry Lessons. I like the pendants but wanted to play with the weave itself more. This is the first piece I’ve ever created with the outset intention of oxidizing. I discovered however that my minds eye vision and what you get from using egg to oxidize vs. LOS isn't that same thing. I do like the rainbow effect I got from it however.  I show both just so ya’ll can see the difference. I thought about adding tiny silver beads and such but opted for a piece that would put the emphasis on those yummy rhodochrosites ; )  I have a few left so maybe I’ll try a second one and see how accent beads change it. Thanks for looking, and as always comments and critiques welcome and appreciated ; )

Week 16 – Haven’t seen the movie…

P3190037

I don't watch movies much…
This was an idea that floated around for awhile (and you may recognioze the shape of the core wire from the copper blob earrings a couple of weeks back) for a pendant.  I really like this, wear it a LOT, and will not be selling it – selfish me!!!
It is 18G FS, 26 & 24G SS and the always wonderful Labradorite!
Thanks for looking and any comments you may have!
Cheers,
Angie Simonsen
