White Hot

Playing catchup – I apologize – this week is more warm white than white hot. A double seed bead strand and a beaded bead with mother of pearl leaves. I’m actually getting luke warm on using seed beads in my designs in favor of wire and metal sheet. But occasionally am tempted to do designs like this. Beadedbeadneckl

Sparks

Right at the start of the 3rd quarter when I saw this theme it made me think of the hill tribe silver beads shown below – so here they are with flower agate discs on long elegant earwires.

Week 36 – Wire Wrapped Bangle Bracelets

Week36Yes, catching up!  A group of four bangles, in 14K gold-filled and Japanese triangle beads.  A very simple design that takes forever!  I used 24 guage 1/2 round wire!  -Nancy

Week 36 – ShaktiPaj

Here is a clasp. Teensy Swarovski and the beautiful rondelle shape I love. It is known as a Butterfly Clasp in my house, coined by my DIL. This one has a lovely garden to flit in. Comments most appreciated, I’m trying to play some catch up before the season gets away from me again. PerriButterflyhook2

week 36 – cool blue saucers

Img_1019_2

I must be drawn to the coolness of the blue and silver during this unseasonably steamy 85 degree heat this weekend (in Minnesota in October!!!).  The design is simple, but I like the flow of the lines, and the blue beads remind me of flying saucers.  22 gauge sterling wire, glass and sterling beads.

Week 36 — Sparkly Balls

Wk36_sparklyballs_750
Some of you might remember my Beach Balls necklace from week 21, where I had crocheted an assortment of colorful beads (they looked like eyes in technicolor) with 24 ga stainless steel wire and an enormous hook.  I had made two of them, one to sell, the other one to keep for myself.  I get tons of positive comments each time I wear it!  People really like it so I decided to make a few more with different beads.  I hope that you will forgive me for being redundant, but they will be my catch-up pieces for a few weeks.  Here goes the first one made with 22ga stainless steel, and plastic beads in soft colours, with lots of sparkle!

Week 36 – Sparks – Ellen/rubystar

Alex_crossThis piece fits the theme only loosely, in that it is a little spark of its fiery, larger counterpart, which I just posted. Where last week’s cross was six inches long, this little baby is just 3 5/8 inches long.

I knew that our Mother Abbess, who wore the larger cross I made for Sound of Music, would be soooooo sad to give it back to me. But since I had promised to donate it to the theatre company for auction, I knew I couldn’t let her have it. So, I made her a baby cross instead as a gift to remember the show by. This one is also small enough to actually wear, if she so chooses. Needless to say, she was thrilled and I didn’t have to wrestle the big one away from her after the show closed! LOL

Netted Cap a la Eni

Turquoiseweave2 I’ve been having a lot of fun with Eni’s netted cap tutorial. This was my first attempt with a turquoise drop. The red beads are white-hearts over 100 years old that I picked up in Tucson last February. Not sure if I should LOS it. Thanks Eni, I love this technique.

Catching up

A_net_of_water I’ve been busy with life lately and I’ve allowed myself to fall behind in posting.  I’m cheating a little to catch up by posting some pics of pieces I made back in August while getting ready for a show.  The show is behind me now but my FIL has been in the hospital with cancer so I’ve been preoccupied with family matters.

This is the first netted bezel pendant that I made.  The pic isn’t the greatest, I know.  I really liked the way the netting turned out but this was my first so I was trying to figure the bail out … it turned out okay, but it could be improved upon I thought.  I have since perfected the bails for these pendants which you will see in a post to follow.
