Week 48-Work in Progress

This is going to be a work in progress over the next few weeks.  I found this tape measure amongst my   mother's sewing supplies this past summer. Unfortunatley I don't know how old it is but it appears to be somewhat fragile.  I will be taking some of my mother's jewelry and attaching it to the metal sheet that I've cut and riveted on to the tape measure.  KittyD

Rose’s Quartz by Eva Sherman – week 48

Rose's Quartz 2  This piece was created as a tribute to beading buddy Rose from Ohio Beaders. We lost Rose just about a year ago.

Melissa Muir – Week 48

Caught
This is a piece I have wanted to try for a very long time. It is a CZ caught between the mesh and sterling back plate. It is only 1" x 1". I love it and can't wait to play more with the technique.

Week 48 – Silver Set – Randi/Dax58

WireWrapSet
I've been doing more and more metal only pieces, and I find it very
challenging to work out new designs… this is a set with wire wrapped.
set, and soldered onto silver shapes. The earrings look like they hang
crooked when on the card, but they actually angle along the lines of
the face very nicely when worn. The ring sits flat along the top of the
finger, and has a matching wrap pattern.

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi

Frosty Morn week 48

Fallen Snow needed some earrings so Frosty Morn fit right in.  They are now the exact color of the white in Fallen Snow but are so close that they are keepers.  I am trying to play catch up.  For the first three quarters I did so well each week keeping up.  Well, there is one more this week.  Enjoy and comment, please.

MOMMAKAT: Rings….

Wavyringa111008 I'm experimenting as I learn to solder better. ( read properly?) This started out as 14GA half round, which I cut, filed & sanded, soldered, shaped, filed & sanded some more,  textured with my hammers, and polished.  This is the second ring I've made, I plan to make more, wheeee! Frosty Morn

IMG_3671 Frosty Morn

The first thing that popped into my mind was Blue Lace Agate. Having grown up in Michigan I remember looking out the kitchen window at newly fallen snow during the early morning hours. It was so pretty and glistened as if light blue glitter had been sprinkled everywhere.

After making the bezels and cleaning them up a bit…jump-rings were soldered in place. Next step was soldering the earring posts to the back of the bezels. Then sanding, cleaning and setting the cabs followed.

The final touch was adding iridescent white coin pearls to the bottom of the earrings. =)

Thank you,

Deborah aka Sneekbead

Morning Frost- simple

Mornignfrost900
UGGG I hate the thought of morning frost.  I especially dislike that fact that last night the windows and ground were covered in frost, wet rain and snow.  ICK!  However, when I don’t have to leave the house in the freezing bitter cold, I do like to look at hte frost and ice patterns left behind.  Here is a simple pair of earrings on theme.
