Dandelion floaters Sheila

                             This was really fun to make. It’s supposed to represent the dandelion after you’ve blown half the seedlings off. I couldn’t capture the color nor the depth of the focal so you’ll have to trust me when I tell you it’s interesting up close and personal.

Dawn ~ WK13 ~ Lapis Cabochon Ring

For this weeks project I returned to finish the ring I started in wk12.  I worked on three cabs to fit the bezel for this ring and the Lapis looked the best.  This was a tutorial from the WAJ, Aug. 1999 issue, his ‘n’ hers cabochon ring.  The tutorial shows this as an intermediate project, but I feel that it is more an advanced project, and the hardest ring that I have attempted.  What was hard for me was that when the bezel is being formed there are 8 wires, 4 each side that have to be interlaced and curved at the same time, plus fit the cab to the ring, and then wrapped with 1/2 round, I was having trouble keeping all the wires on the square and even to wrap them, and when I removed the cab to wrap the bezel I lost the size. The result was that everything about the ring came out crooked and larger than it was supposed to be from struggling with it….I definitely will need more practice on this one.  The tutorial called for 20 gauge wire, but I feel that it would have worked better for me in 21 gauge.

Wooooooo Hoooooooooo!!! Jacki/stefannsgirl

Woooo Hoooo as in "I made it!!!!!"   I posted for all 13 weeks and was only late a couple of times (and one of those late entries was the week I had unexpected stent surgery)!!!!!   

This is not on theme, but I like the way it turned out.  This is actually a turquoise teardrop pendant bead the has a hole drilled front to back.  I wrapped it and then fed one of the bail wires through to the other side and made a little spiral to cover the hole.  The front, as you can see, has spirals that cover the rest of the bail wire going to the back.  I have another one of these beads.  I may have to make one for me.  This one is going up for sale!!!

I just wanted to take the time to tell everyone what a glorious job you all have done.  There are some very beautiful pieces on YOJ this quarter.  You all should be so very proud of yourselves!!!  I am looking forward to the next quarter and some more fabulous eye candy!!!

Fly away, light as the breeze

A humble flower, joyful like a golden kiss, warm as the evening sun. A symbol of hope and freedom, when its fluffy seeds are liberated, gently blown by the breeze to fly away freely at last.  Dear Uncle, may your spirit drift away softly as the white dandelion seeds towards peace and happiness.

This is a brooch that I will offer to my Aunt whom I love dearly, in remembrance of my dear Godfather who passed away last Monday.

Week 13 – ErinJ – Titanium Pendant and Earrings

We had to make a titanium and sterling silver pendant in class which also introduced us to rivets.  I really enjoyed this, so I made a pair of earrings as well.  Erin

Week 13 – Floating Dandelion

Here, to finish off the outfit from Week 12, is the bracelet made to go with the necklace and some simple earrings that will add a little flash, but not take away from the necklace or make me look like I’m drowning in jewelry! Not that that would be bad………  😉
