end-of-summer silver ring — Abigail
I was so happy when I posted my treble clef earrings in September that I had gotten something nice made again. Alas, I made that pair of earrings and this ring, that I didn’t get photographed, and then took off out of town for most of October. Saw two awesome museum exhibits of art jewelry, in Houston and Boston, but created nothing myself.
Anyway, way late, here is the ring I made two months ago. Getting a bit more complex than the one I did in Loren’s workshop — 9 bights instead of 8, 7 leads instead of 5. Thought I would go around three times, but it seemed to say it was done after two. 22-gauge fine silver wire.
Like a Chinese finger-trap toy, it can be adjusted in size somewhat, from a stretched-out size 8 to a compressed-but-wider 6-1/2. Not quite big enough for my ring finger, but a good pinky ring at the smaller size. My sister-in-law in Boston hinted strongly that she thought it was an EXCELLENT ring. Maybe for Christmas …
Fire Folk/Fire Dancer
Closer to theme than I have been for awhile – I love doing these l’il people. Smaller ones such as the
yellow jade triangles are earrings and the others will be fun pendants to wear on a chain. I used bits of
sterling silver chain and semi precious stones.
Jean Power- week 39- Viking Weave Bracelet
Whilst teaching Viking Weave I made this bracelet to show how to begin and end a piece. I am addicted to this technique now – after not doing it for many months- and am itching to start a new piece I had an idea for- so watch this space (though obviously it may be many months before I finish it!)
Week 39 – Shaktipaj – Majesty’s Secret
So the Sculpture Challenge didn’t go so well – everyone has full lives right now I guess. I’d like to thank Eva and Micki for inviting me to participate, and coming up with such a great way to spur creativity. We definitely should do it again! Since Eva has shown her gorgeous and ingenious locket – I guess I’ll show you my little piece of creative anachronism. I took on the challenge mainly so that I could be motivated to finish this piece- it has been in my Pile (you know the one) since May of this year. There is a little history and fun to this piece which I’ve outlined on the CWJ Forum, too long a story for here. There’s also a closer view, so visit! LOTS of sterling wire in 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30g, silver beads, Swarovski (of course!) faceted watermelon tourmaline adorns the rose vines. Natural pink pearls finish the piece. Comments gratefully accepted, as well as criticism. Perri
Dancers
Nearly caught up! These earrings do dance about so I suppose I can just about fit the theme. Garnet and sterling silver. Thanks for looking.

Week 39 – Eni Oken
This is my first ever rainbow wrap… I had never tried these because I thought it would involve too many wires, (and it does), but this time it didn’t bother me and it worked! It was very intuitive to make… The stone trapped in the ring is a citrine. To see more pictures, go to the Journal: Rainbow Ring.

Week 39 – “Peace Pearl Necklace”
The pendant shape reminded me of the Chinese character for peace. The necklace has a quiet and peaceful quality.
I used 24, 20 and 18 guage sterling silver wire and freshwater pearls. The chain is 31 inches in length and the pendant is 2.5 inches long. I used heavy oxidation to showcase the pearls. -Nancy
Week 39 — Dancing Flames
Finally, something on theme, although not on time! This necklace from my signature collection has been crocheted with 26ga Argentium and red coral chips, producing an effect of tiny flames dancing all around the neck. To add a little pizzazz, I made one of my charms holder pendant, also in Argentium, and in the shape of inverted flames. The necklace can be worn with or without the pendant, and the pendant itself can be worn with or without charms… which is not without charm. LOL! More pictures of the various components can be seen in my French journal.

jade and sterling bracelet. Almost there – one more week to go and I am caught up 🙂
Needle Lace with Windows! :)
Two pendants to share this time. The turquoise is actually an older pendant but it’s one of my favorites so I wanted to share it here as well. I’m also posting it with the tree agate piece so that they can be compared side by side. For those of you who bought my Needle Lace Caged Pendant Tutorial back in August, you will recognize the turquoise pendant from the photos. The second pendant is a piece of tumbled tree agate done with the same technique but with little windows included to show the stone off. One of down-sides to the needle lace caged pendant is that it can obscure a perfectly lovely stone … the windows scattered through the weave offer a welcomed view of the wonderful stone beneath. Something else different here from previous pendants is that the lace work goes all the way down, creating a basket of sorts that cradles the stone and it is closed off completely with a dangle on the bottom. I’m really into my dangles. 🙂 Several people have tried to talk me out of this little tree agate piece already. I’m still working on embellishing the chain… I have at least three people ready to scrap for it when it’s done, lol, IF I let it go. 🙂 I think I will update my needle lace caged pendant utorial with the details on how to create a window the first chance I get. The update will be free to anyone who has already bought the original tutorial, so if you’ve already bought the tut, don’t fret! Just keep an eye out for it and drop me a line if you want to get your free update! I’ll have to get a better picture of the tree agate pendant as this one really doesn’t do it justice.
