Melissa Muir – Week 36

Half-weave_pendant
I made this one a little while back while trying to figure out how everyone does such a beautiful job with the wire weaving. As you can see, I still have quite a long way to go. But I do like how it turned out. I even made a pair of earrings to go with it.

Fall Bracelet – Week 36

EvaFallBracelet

A simple yet elegant bracelet for fall; the focal is jasper wrapped with 26 ga coiled silver wire and the accents are swar pearls with thai silver caps and intertwined 20 ga silver wire. This project was inspired by a bracelet on the cover of one of the Aussie bead magazines last year, can't remember which one….

Week 36 – Kill Bill – Pocket Full of Hearts

Week 36-Pocket Full of HeartsThis is a project from Janice Berkebile's workshop at the 2009 Portland Beadfest.  The copper sheet was cut with the disc cutter, then texturized and holes punched.  I used the dapping block to dome the sheet, added the dangles and then the little handle.  It makes a great little pendant.

Revisit of last week’s bracelet

IMG_1619

We attended the Hooked On Wire Retreat in Burlingame, California. The project Barb Switzer taught was called Three Times Toggle. It was a little more tedious than I expected but, I love how versatile it is. And now my bracelet has an awesome clasp! =D

Thank you,

Deborah aka Sneekbead

YOJ09-36 Green Sprout Pendant – Dianne Karg Baron

YOJWk36-GreenSprout-Main Green Sprout Pendant (2009)
Constructed
Sterling silver, fine silver, prasiolite (green amethyst)
L 4.6 cm x W 2.2 cm

This week, I’ve been thinking alot about growing things,
regeneration and rejuvenation.  Unfortunately, spring is a long way
off, so I’m sort of out of sync with the cycle of life.  It’s the
colour of prasiolite beads I bought in Bancroft (the only strand of
beads I bought there).  It’s such a sweet, fresh green, and it reminds
me of spring, seeds sprouting, life bursting forth anew.

So, I used the bead as a sort of seed, with “roots” growing around the peak, and a little plant “sprouting” out from the roots.

Read more of the story behind this pendant on my blog, a wrapturous blog.  Thanks for looking!

Week 36-A Tale of Two Pendants

Black CZ pendant Pyrite quartz3 When I started to wrap this 20x30mm black CZ, I messed up on the first attempt and got the prongs too far apart.  That afternoon this neat 32x15mm pyrite included quartz came in the mail from Greatcabochons.com.  I pulled the first piece out of my scrap and used it to do sort of a combo wrap on the quartz.   I think it turned out kind of cool.  I love it when I can salvage pieces out of my scrap box.  Thanks for looking.

Week 36 – Stamped Initial Pendant – Randi/Dax58

InitialPA3 I started designing some initial pendants, with the hope (?) that they
will be a popular holiday gift – I am looking for something that looks
like “me” but is fun to make, even if I make several of them. There is
a stamped design in the copper outer ring, and the initial is stamped
in the silver center. Both copper and silver are dapped, then soldered
together, then antiqued. This one was made for me!  I plan on making a few more textures available
too, and have a second texture option on my blog.

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Etsy Shop for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi
