Tutti Frutti
This Lesson shows how to make a fun costume jewelry bracelet and earrings, tutti frutti style. Like Carmen Miranda’s hats, it brings to the mind vivid colors and with lampwork beads and colored wire the sky is the limit According to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmen_Miranda Carmen’s enormous, fruit-laden hats are iconic visuals recognized around the world. These costumes lead to Saks Fifth Avenue developing a line of turbans and jewelry inspired by Carmen Miranda in 1939. Many costume jewelry designers made fruit jewelry also inspired by Carmen Miranda which is still highly valued and collectible by vintage and antique costume jewelry collectors. Fruit jewelry is still popular in jewelry design today. Much of the fruit jewelry seen today is often still fondly called "Carmen Miranda jewelry" because of this. C&C always welcome, Thank you Linda Rosa Blog Web Site
MOMMAKAT: Copper and sterling spirals
Ok, this wonderful copper and sterling wire bracelet already sold at one of my last few shows, but I wanted to show it anyway.. it’s spirals on spirals, and I just think the contrast between the copper and sterling is great. The large coils are 16GA copper and the smaller coils are 21GA sterling, and the hand cut rings are in 18GA. No Name Abstract Ring ;)
I’m looking for some new ideas. I’ve changed this project several times while making the ring and it turned out so abstract I don’t even know how to name it. It’s more comfortable while worn than it seems 😉 The stone is a sqare faceted citrine.
Thank you,

October’s Birthstone
Opal
" Opal is a mineraloid gel which is deposited at a relatively low temperature and may occur in the fissures of almost any kind of rock, being most commonly found with limonite, sandstone, rhyolite, and basalt."
I opted out from doing a piece related to the sun sign and focused on the October birthstone instead.
Using an opal I purchased locally I created a bezel. After filing away the excess silver sheet…and some minor clean up…I then soldered the bezel cup to the inside of a teardrop shape that I created using 16 gauge sterling silver wire.
The finishing touch after setting the stone was adding a wire wrapped coil to the frame. From top to bottom it measures 1 3/4 inches.
Thank you,

Jean Power- week 40- blue, black and white polymer clay necklace
More poylmer clay this week. I did make these beads a few weeks ago but finally got round to using them. I ‘ummed’ and ‘aared’ for ages as to what to do with them and then decided that simply stringing them as going to be the best result
