Week 29 – Denmark Culture – Catching up!
I let myself get waaaaaay behind. It was all my thesis's fault, but here I am, determined to catch up before the year ends!
For this topic I had found the most gorgeous picture of a forest in the Fall, a forest in Denmark obviously. I was so inspired by the colors of the trees and the leaves that I decided to use it as color inspiration. Although that was a long time ago, and I couldn't find the picture again, I still remembered the colors and made this ring.
It was done in a very freeform manner with copper, chalcedony, smoky quarts, keishi pearls, chocolate freshwater pearls and a stone I don't know.
Thank you,
Cristina
Week 29-Favorite Bracelet
This bracelet started off as a way to use some 'mistake' wire… things left over from all my oops. I took copper, brass, and sterling, twisted together, made some endcaps out of sterling, soldered the ends with the help of my friends at the retreat. We had to super pickle the piece to get the brass back to original color. Then I wire wrapped the ends to add more texture. I melted some fine silver and then soldered the balls over the top in various places. This is my favorite all time bracelet.. It is bold and heavy and very funky!
Week 29: Tube setting
This is the second time I have done tube setting. Its a CZ set in sterling silver.
Melissa Muir – Week 29
Trying one more time to get caught up. I am getting there, but it will take a few more posts. 😉
These are made with matte finish black onyx and copper wire. I love these.
Turquoise and Sterling Earrings
Sorry for being post hog here, but I have the opportunity to try and catch up, so I’d better take advantage!
These are more play with stamped disks…smaller in diameter than the previous ones, but a thicker gauge. Even though they are the same basic design as the previous ones, they are a totally different look! Yay!
Week 29
A simple necklace and earrings of cherry quartz, rhondonite and g/f wire all hand made but the stones and trigger clasp. Not one of my favorite. Too sedate.
Jean Power- week 29- geometric 2-8-5
Phew- got some catching up to do. I have been busy beading some very time-consuming pieces and finally managed to photograph them today. I will photograph all my wirework and stringing pieces asap- promise!
This necklace took me quite a few weeks to get right as I wasn’t happy with the original central star and it took a lot of attempts to come up with something that could replace it. The main problem was figuring out why the original one was wrong- once I managed that it got a whole lot easier to design a new one.
I loved the two stars on either side of the centre so much I decided to bead a necklace just of those (see week 31 for details)- there’s nothing like being a glutton for punishment!
MOMMAKAT: Paula Shell Necklace
I’m just playing catch up. The picture isn’t the greatest, but the wire links in this were fun to make. It drapes well. I shaped the Fleur’s free hand off the pliers using 20Ga sterling wire. I gently hammered the loops for strength. Best of all this sold at my show yesterday! woo hoo! more pictures as always at my blog:
Flower Hoops
Unique hoop earrings made by me from scratch of sterling and fine silver. Thick open circles were adorned with three-dimensional flowers – two on one side and one on the the other side of the hoops. Centres of flowers are filled with faceted opaque ruby rondelles. All oxidised and polished. More pictures in my gallery 🙂
Thank you,
Iza
Simplicity: Textured Metals
Well I’ve long since given up on the idea of ‘catching up’ in the YOJ Project, but I haven’t surrendered entirely! I only recently realized how long it’s been since I’ve made a piece that I feel really good about … Life has just torn me in so many different directions that it’s hard to settle long enough to focus on creative endeavors. We’re preparing to move and I’m hoping that we can get into a place with a nice studio space. So many of my tools and glorius gadets have remained packed away since we moved into this house. I’ve been dreaming of having child free studio space again. :::sigh::: What a beautiful dream. 🙂
So … boring life stuff aside, while I haven’t had time to begin any substantial project lately, I sorely needed a creative fix. I needed something I could do in a short time frame and while I had bought tools to experiment with textured metals years back, I only recently decided to experiment. I made three pairs of textured earrings, embellished with stones. It was simple, took no time and was fun to boot! More pictures and information on my blog: www.deliastonesstudio.wordpress.com
