Week 10-Paul Cezanne-Deux Spirals

Deux Spirals The spiral pendant and the spiral on the clasp mimic each other.  This was my first attempt at coiled jump rings and really enjoyed making them.  The pearl on the spiral pendant dresses the necklace up just a bit.  I drilled a hole in the copper tubing to attach the bail for the pendant.  Week 10-Deux Spirals 1

Week 10 – Paul Cezanne

Cezanne1

Cezanne2

Wayyyyy behind. I've been busy turning my Artfire store into a destash and supplies shop and I just opened another shop on 1000 markets. The Artfire shop is taking forever. I have a plethora of little findings, filigrees etc I have to take pictures of, describe, and so on. Part of me wants to just sell it by the pound and get it over with.

Anyway, this is my necklace was inspired by the painting, Le lac d'Annecy (Lake Annecy), by Paul Cezanne.

Cezanne_annecy

The stones I used include blue topaz, lapis, green and petro tourmaline, smokey quartz, peridot, blue chalcedony, blue quartz…I think that's it. A veritable gemstone soup! I tried to stratify the colors in an organic way to represent the landscape. The pendant is made from fine silver and is about 2 inches long. I added a little smokey quartz leaf adornment because it compliments the colors and shape of the pendant, and because, well, it's just too cute. 🙂 Comments and Critiques please.

Handmade hoops in sterling silver accented with montana blue Swarovski crystals.

There is another photo on my Creativity Journal if anyone is interested.

Week 10 – Fused Glass Charm

Fused Glass Charm

I repaired this fused glass charm for a friend when the wire that was fused into the glass broke. Not much to it, trying to catch up…..

Week 10 – Wire Wrap & Weave Ring

I worked on this ring and redid several times yesterday and still wasn't very happy with the outcome, but feel that I have learned from this and the next one(s) should turn out better.  The band is 20g round wire frame with 26g fine silver for the weave, the stone was wrapped with 24g square sterling wire. Anyway, I thought I might as well post it.  Thanks for looking, critiques always welcomed.

This is the front and back side of a 2-sided resin pendant. I am trying to work out some designs and this was the first time I had used a backless bezel. Thanks goes out to Randi for her willingness to share her secrets and tips with me. 😉

week 10-braided bracelet

Week102009  This bracelet was more of a challenge than I expected.  I followed instructions in "Woven Wire Jewelry" by Linda Chandler and Christine Ritchey.  I like the feel, its very heavy and would be good for a guy. I had a little trouble keeping the side wires from squeezing the weave.  I will definitely do this style again and will play with size of wire.  What I liked-overall look, clasp is cool!  What I don't like:  not fitting the weave inside side wires as good as I should have.

PS.. working on my pictures, purchased a piece of nonglare glass… helps a lot

Week 10 – Etched Copper Earrings – Randi/Dax58

EtchDrops I taught an etching class this week (it
went great!), and these copper discs were samples I made to show the
students. I dapped them, added tube rivets, and hung them from hammered
"twist dog-bone" wire elements. This is a very typical style of earring for
me to create, but I haven't done them in a while. For reference, the
copper is 24g dics, and the "dog-bones" are 12g silver wire.

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi

Week 10 – Paul Cezanne

I was always impressed from his rich colours in still life and landscape works. So my adoration was expressed by this copper set. I based composition on Cezanne`s "Still Life with Basket of Apples" and here is my result 🙂 Sezann  Plastika9_618small

Week 10-Cezanne

Carnelian apaptite earrings3  When I researched the artwork of Cezanne, what struck me was his frequest use of the color orange along with blue, orange's complement.  So that's where the color story for these earrings came from.  That being said, I'm not too crazy about them and will probably end up redoing them.  I think the colors are too much in equal doses where one should just be an accent.  Okay, now that I've critiqued my own piece, the rest of you are welcome to do the same.  😀
