Week 26 – More basketweave – Sandi Hj/Pepperma

Yoj26web2
Yoj26web1Halfway there! What a wonderful feeling!

This pendant in sterling is another variation of the flat basketweave. I used a 6mm freshwater pearl as a centerpiece. Excluding the bail, the pendant is 27mm or just over an inch high. I’ve included more details in my journal, as usual.

I realize I haven’t been commenting or responding much lately — with all that has been going on in my life, I have been concentrating on the core task of creating the jewelry each week. In the second half of the year, I intend to be much better about acknowledging all you wonderful people. I really feel a strong connection to you all, and appreciate hearing from you. I also intend to at least look at the themes, and I have a couple little challenges for myself that I’ll talk about later.

Comments and critiques always welcome. Thanks for looking!

Avernturine and Emerald on Leather

Aventurine_emerald The pendant is about 1" across, the little emerald is tube set. This looks simple, but there were so many individual steps to get everything soldered together and set properly. I’m quite proud of this turned out, I might hang onto it for a while.

Beach Party? Sure!

On theme? I would definitely wear this to a beach party! In any case, this little shell bangle was made with 14 g sterling wire, and a Naga shell bead with brass, coral and turquoise inlay treated with LOS. I saw a bracelet like this once and decided to try my hand at the design. It’s kind of like a swirl on a paper clip! It’s very comfortable to wear.

week 24 – pinwheels or flowers?

Img_0690_7
I can’t decide if the colorful details are flowers or pinwheels – but I love the beads just the same!  I rescued them from an antique store, where they were hanging on a rather hideous gold-tone chain…

This bracelet is another belated b-day gift for my mom.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Flotsam__jetsumFlotsam__jetsum4This bead is one of the largest I’ve made in this style. Roughly 2" long. I see it as a failed experiment that I made into lemonade. Freestyle imagination should be it’s name! It fits our aquatic theme this quarter, as it looks like a fishing net or lobster trap that caught all manner of little thingies. All of the faces are different, and these are only 2 of them. Sterling in too many gauges to list, sterling beads. You know, the usual! LOL Any comments welcome!  Perri

Jean Power- week 23- beaded Treasure Bracelet

I’ve finally managed to finish my Beaded Treasure bracelet which I started back in March!
It’s a great technique, and the book makes it so easy to understand. I finished my bracelet using a large button I bought a few years ago
that was just waiting for the perfect project to be used in.

I have loads of ideas for variations- I even have the thread and the beads- now I just need the time!

Wow!

Hello, everyone! I’m Tess and I’m thrilled to be starting with YOJ. I sat back last quarter and watched, but now the timing is right and I’m diving in.  I look forward to meeting you all and learning and stretching and growing.  I’m in the middle of preparing for a trunk show and don’t have super current pictures, but here are a few things I’ve completed.  A big, public thank you to Eni and Remy for their wonderful tutorials. I look forward to all comments, tips and suggestions.       Tess

Week 26 – “Raindrop Earrings”

Week26Yeah!  I’m all caught up and it feels good! =]
These earrings belong with week 25.  I think they are simple and elegant.  Black Mother of Pearl with Hematite accents.  Of course, Sterling Silver.
Now, hopefully I won’t fall behind in the up coming weeks!  -Nancy

Week 25 – “Raindrop Pendant”

Week25Using Hematite, iridescent Black Mother of Pearl and the teardrop shape, reminded me of rain.  Which, we need desperately in Arizona!!
I really like creating jewelry with clean lines.  I try other styles, but linear and curvilinear pieces are what I enjoy making.  I do love learning new techniques!   -Nancy
