Strange Attractor – ShaktiPaj

Strangeattractor02My hands sometimes give me a bit of trouble, so when they feel good, I make hay while the sun shines! Lots of coiling and forming, lots of 26 and 28g sterling wire and beads. I’ve always thought that the materials can remain fairly simple, and you can still create a thing of intricate beauty. I’m not much of one to run after the newest trend – there is too much yet to explore in what is currently available. This is another gifting, if the style suits the recipient. Comments and critiques are always welcome. Perri

If you are interested, wander over to my Blog and check out the other views, as well as the first one that got made. (It was too "not right" to post here) I also answer the How Long? and How Big? questions in a bit more detail.

Turquoise Mix

Turquoisemix
I like this triple strand design, but I’m not happy with the wire wrapped turquoise focal that I used. I will
probably take it a step further and embellish it to conceal the wire wrap at the top.

Japanese Rose Earrings – Week 5 – Amari

Japaneseroseearrings3I am still catching up, but luckily feeling more creative just lately, so hopefully won’t be long until I’m posting the right weeks at the right time!

I’ve been playing with filigree shapes again – I soldered these to the half moon frames. Very tricky and fiddly, but I’m getting the hang of it. I attached some fine trace chains, lemon quartz marquise beads, and faceted citrine.

More pics and other stuff on my blog and website. Maz 🙂

Week 5 Elegant earrings

Well at least I hope they are elegant. I have to make some pieces to show at a local shop to see if they will sell my jewelry. They have to be inexpensive but classy too. The inspiration for these came from my little wire basket. Made with SS wire and CZ’s. I think I’m going to oxidize this one. I love the yellow with the black silver.

Week 5 – Melissa Muir

CoolchainThis is a chain that I made after seeing something similar. It was a royal PITA to make, but looks so cool. I still need to finish it off as I don’t care for the clasp that I have used. I will add a few more links and create a couple of hooks for the clasp rather than using the box clasp I currently have on there.

It is made by soldering 4 jumprings together and then I have cut out tiny discs with my disc cutter and domed each one of them. Then I pick soldered each little dome onto an intersection of the rings. I then connected each section and soldered the jumprings. It was an idea to teach for class, but not one that I am going to be doing any time soon. It is a long process. It looks really cool though. I am not normally one that likes to wear large bracelets like this, but I really enjoy the look and feel of this one.

Sea Treasures

187bThese earrings were made on request for a lady who liked my Grappa earrings. She’s chosen this blue/gray color combo and I loved making them. I fell in love with kyanite and I’m a bit worried because it’s an expensive love 😉

Week 5- Barcelona

It started out as Mardi Gras and somehow got lost along the way.  As you can see, this is my version of Eni’s tutorial.  I had to do it twice, thus I am late, because I accidently cut a wire and I couldn’t seem to find a way to repair it that I felt comfortable with.

Barcelona_necklace_on_display Lots of stones- carnelian, jade, sunstone, garnet, citrine, adventurine, coral, fluorite, and anything I found that would work!  I intended to do a silver chain but ended up with this stringed finishing instead.  I am not sure if I like it and if it does not grow on me, I may end up switching it.Barcelona_pendant_close_up_2

Rocker Citrine, ruby, iolite, peridot and quartz on three strands of sterling silver chain. They are about 3 inches (7.5cm) long.

Subject: Week 5 Mardi Gras: Swati

Please note that his is not my piece… I am posting this for Swati, who is having TypePad Issues!

Mardigras31
I don’t really know anything about Mardi Gras, but I know that
beads and beads and beads are involved. So I have used genuine Garnet
beads and fresh water pearl beads very generously here on a sterling
silver frame. In the middle is a genuine 10mm faceted Garnet. It took
me a week to make this piece because I am quite new to this style. This
is the second piece I am doing in this style. I can see that a lot more
practice is needed. The work is not as neat as I would like it to be.
But overall I am happy with the piece. The picture is not good…I am
using a light box etc for taking pictures, but my pictures suck! How do
I go about taking those simply DELIGHTFUL pictures that you guys take?
Any tips and pointers?

This piece has been inspired by the works of Magdalena, Iza, Eni Oken, traditional Indian jewelry (from India…the country I come from), and the historical royalty of India.

Thanks for looking!
Swati

Week 5 – Double-Spirals Pendant – Randi/Dax58

Scrollpendant
This is a new design, and I’m really pleased with how it came out. It
is 3 double scroll components, each overlapping the other, then wrapped
together with thin gauge wire. I made a matching bail, and wired small
daisy spacers to the center of the scrolls, then LOS’d and gave it a
satin finish. The LBS where I teach also liked it… this is now one of my new classes for next semester…

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi
