Spiral Wrap Beach Glass – Week 15

Wk 15 Spiral Wrap BG

The spiral wrap is great way to incorporate all those teeny tiny pieces of beach glass into a project.

Melissa Muir – Week 15

This  next piece is one that is in  my personal collection. Just a few weeks ago my husband, daughter and I took a trip to Indonesia. We visited so many places and saw the neatest things. One of the highlights of the trip was the gem buying. This stone is an amazing blue obsidian. I had never seen blue obsidian before this, but now I have. The stone is crystal clear and is absolutely beautiful. This is a rather large stone weighing roughly 200 carats or so. It is 2"  long by about 1 1/2" wide at the bottom. I personally never wear anything this big, but I guess I do now.

You can see more pictures of our trip on my design journal. I still have many more to add, just haven't had the time to edit and post them all. http://design.kcjewelbox.com

Week 15-Katsushika Hokusai-Reflecting

Week 15-Split Pea 1 This is a very simple design that highlights these wonderful glass beads made by Alana from Flameboyance Glass.  The colors, I feel, reflect those of Katsushika Hokusai's Aoigaoka Waterfall.  The piece is made from 14 gauge sterling silver wire along with twisted coiled wire.

Wk 15 – Grenadine and keshi earrings

Week 15 – Woven Amethyst CZ

A large Amethyst CZ framed inside a 28g sterling silver frame that has been woven with 30g fine silver wire.  I attached the rolo chain with jump rings, added a faceted amethyst bead.  The back of the chain has two amethyst beads and a drop at the end of the extender chain of 3 faceted amethyst beads.

Week 15 – Katsushika Hokusai

Wow my first post and I'm really late. 🙂 This pendant is about 2.5 x 1.5 inches and is wrapped with sterling silver 22g and 28g wire. It is accented with rose quartz, pink Swarovski crystal, Peridot and believe it or not there is a red agate bead in there. The flower blossoms was made by using Robbie Ward's Spring Blossom Tut. The smaller partially closed blossom, I flip the flower around so the seams are on the inside. I am really exciting about this quarter and the themes! Heather www.heathermorales.com

Pearl Cluster

P3190039

The best kind of leftovers are the kind you can make into a new piece of jewelry!  These are from various projects, and although I tried to arrange them, it's just a chaotic clump once all is said and done.  Kind of pokey to wear, but looks great with many different things!
Thanks for looking,

Plum Blossom and the Moon

Yay! My first post and it’s late! Woo! 🙂 I’d love to tell you that this is completely out of my character. Ahem. It’s not. This time I do have a bit of an excuse with our having an out of town guest for the holiday weekend.

I was already a bit apprehensive about making the commitment to participate in YOJ so I gave myself one quarter to find my courage. And then what do y’all go and do but make the first week of the 2nd quarter’s theme “Katsushika Hokusai”? OhMyGoodness!!!! What have I gotten myself into? 😀

So, I felt a simple pendant would be my best bet. I looked to Plum Blossom and the Moon for inspiration.

The stone I used is a bit wavy, hence the really funky light reflections. Not the “wow” piece I was looking to start this new creative endeavor, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and got it done. Woo Hoo!

Kristen Syddall – The Wave

Hi All,

Just joined in time for the 2nd Quarter (thanks Eva) 🙂

I decided to stay with theme (Artist – Katsushika Hokusai) for Week 15 - at least I hope that's the theme. I was inspired by Katsushika's "The great wave off Kanagawa". The necklace is made up with sterling silver of mixed gauges, mini pearls and some tiny iolite rondells. I'm quite happy overall although I think I preferred it without the pearls etc. Wish I could say the same about the photo as I'm having pc issues at the moment so just made do.

Now back to the drawing board so I can get next weeks piece completed in time.

Cheers,

Week 15 – Turqoise Ring – Randi/Dax58

TurquoisRing I've been in a mood to make rings, and to set stones… I've been
making wire wrapped pieces alot lately, because I teach them, but I
miss working the metal! This is a large turquoise cab
set in a patterned step bezel, set on a shank made of patterned wire.
Stepped bezel wire has an internal edge, which the stone sits up on,
and is is pretty thick (especially with the added pattern), making it a little tricky to shape. I decided
to use materials that have been around for a looooong time – so even though
the cab is relatively new, the patterned bezel and band wire have been
with me for years!

Comments are always welcome… check out StudioDax for more about my teaching, My Jewelry Blog for more on my FSOJ projects, and My Website for more of my jewelry.  Thanks,  Randi
