Framed Moss Agates – ShaktiPaj

FramedmossagatesI really like moss agate, although it seems even more slippery to photograph than labradorite! It is very difficult to capture its depth and translucency. I made this pair of earrings to try out a new repeatable (hopefully!) method for framing stones and nuggets that are not uniform. I like how it turned out! Lots of 26 and 28 g sterling and beads, LOS to bring out the details.
Thanks for the viewing! Comments and critiques always welcome!  Perri

Earthy

Prayerboxbracelet
As mentioned in my previous post, early on I had accumulated stones, pearls etc. without a plan and it seems
I was drawn to “precious” colors and textures, like pinks and pastels, crystals and pearls. Eventually I realized I needed to work with an earthier palette and introduce more “metal”. So this bracelet is part of my “evolution”. Various stones with byzantine links and a sterling silver “prayer box”.

Week 4 – Melissa Muir

BlusteryMade on time and posted much too late. I really did have this one done on time. I have a new computer and things with it aren’t going so well. It doesn’t seem to like my camera… and many of my programs. UGH!  I finally got the pictures over to my new computer and figured I would try to get them posted.

This piece is Sterling, copper and carnelian. I love wearing this piece. The backplate of copper gives it just the right amount of contrast in the colors. I wish the picture were a little better for you. I will have to work on that a bit.

At any rate, comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Week 4: Late, not on theme and not even Jewelry.

Some of you might have seen the thread on the forum where I was talking about searching my own style. I got some great advice and one of them was to start playing with wire. So that is what I did. I did some research into old crafts and I made a basket out of ugly green garden wire. I showed the picture to Robbie and she wanted it. Of course I made her a new one with silver colored wire. I love doing these baskets and I learn a loBasketrobbiet from making them and they do inspire me. Basketrobbie3

Kinetic bangle

I’m cheating now because I not only made this in 2007, but I didn’t take the photo, either.  I want to try to catch up so I’m sharing work I can share…Argentium silver, forged and shaped, heat riveted with 14K wire.  I do really love the way this bracelet moves and jingles, even though it is a bangle.  Kinetic_bangler

Week 4 — Citrine drop pin

Greencitrinepin Another pin for the loom store.  I’m still experimenting with setting stones in a bezel, and using the three kinds of solder, hard, medium and ez. For this one, I left a shelf and stamped a design around the border. I soldered pieces of tubing on the back. Then I hung three citrine drops.Since she started carrying my pins six months ago, my friend Betsy has sold six, one a month. It’s so nice to get that little check in the mail!

Labradorite Bracelet – Week 4 – Amari

LabradoritepearlbraceletI finally completed this little bracelet I’ve been working on. I couldn’t decide how to finish it – Eva suggested it would look good oxidised, so I took the plunge, and I’m so pleased with the results. I just wish I could get a better photo!

All sterling silver, tiny white freshwater pearls and labradorite.

More on my blog, and other work on my website. Maz 🙂

Blustery

Im late posting for the theme blustery, but it wasn’t because I’ve been lazy! I’ve been busy with final projects and exams. I’m finally finishing up my last semester at the university! Still have to do my thesis, but I wont have to go to classes anymore! yay! Well, for this theme I put blustery in google images and I found this really beautiful ‘water color’ like picture from NASA, called Blustery Bands. It says "The Cassini spacecraft presents a tempestuous scene in which the clouds
of Saturn’s bright equatorial region entwine with those in darker,
southerly latitudes." I used that for color inspiration. Then I came across one of JHill "Places I’ve never been" posters, one of Chicago. She’s a wonderful graphic designer. I used that for shape inspiration.

Blustery1_2

It’s a pendant made of SS and swarovski crystals graduating in color: crystal, crystal satin (i think!), black diamond and black diamond satin. It’s very different from the stuff I usually do.
