Mardi Gras Bracelet – Shaktipaj

Merry_mardi_gras I don’t usually post beadwork, but this was an early Xmas/New Year’s present for a friend. Lots of multicollored bling with Swaros and size 15 beads. Perri

Jean Power- week 43- traingle geometric pendant

I’ve been going back to my geometric work recently and finishing off some old samples and building on ideas. This is a simple triangular pendant which I hope will at some point form a part of a larger project.

Dust to Dust

Amberring2
Amberring1

Dust to dust, unless trapped in Amber. I was never very successful in making these wire wrapped rings.
I bought a pair of these amber earrings and re-made them into rings by drilling holes on the side and
attempted wire wrapping again, this time a little more successfully. I think it works better for me when I use a smaller gauge and wrap around the shank three times rather than using a larger gauge only once or twice…

Week 43— Spirals

Wk43_vendanges_750It is the wine-grape harvest that I had in mind for week 43.  I made a set of eight of those wine glass markers, using 24ga stainless steel and various glass, Slovakian crystal and cat’s eye beads.  You only have to twist them around the stem of a glass.  There are small gaps between beads to allow some play and prevent the beads from breaking from too much tension.

Week 43 – Eni Oken

Gem180c

This bangle was one of the many commissions created for the end of the year. The buyer requested a piece in the same lines as the Marine Relic bangle, but using only Seahorses and in red and black. I couldn’t help but naming the piece "Fire Seahorse bangle", as contradictory as it seems. The two main stones are NOT drilled and were trapped in nets in order to stay secured.

Week 43 – “Icicle Pendant”

Week43This pendant is 5 inches long.  It reminded me of icicles.  I used 18 gauge silver.

Pink Ladder – Week 43

Pink_ladder I have been trying to make this necklace for forever, or one similar…my problem is always with getting the chain to lay straight so the necklace hangs right.  These are so neat little rhodolite tubes I had which have been attached to figure eight chain via wrapped-loops in a ladder-like style.  The brios are rainbow obsidian, which you definitely cannot tell in this crappy photo.

They hang asymetrically, but not enough I think to really have the effect I was going for.  Cute design, I think, but it needs some work!

Snake Eyes

Snake_eyes1 Snake_eyes2_em More mosaic earrings!  I love making these little minirature mosaics.  This pair of earrings reminds me of snake eyes.  The faceted marquis shaped labradorites have an incredible firey blue flash.  Black diamond swarovskis frame the labradorite stones.  They blend perfectly with the grayish tones of the labradorite and seem to pick up the firey blues of the labradorite at times.  I oxidized them heavily and then hand polished them to give them extra dimension.

You can find the tutorial for these earrings on my website: Mosaic Eye Earring Tutorial

Week 43 Smoking bangle

I’m so behind with YOJ. This bracelet is part of the reason why. It took me double or maybe triple the hours this type of bracelet normally takes me. I did the wires around the beads to tight so coiling was so hard. I had to make room for the wire with a needle for almost every coil I did :(. But now it’s finished and I like it a lot. It’s made with all Smokey Quartz beads and silver beads. I didn’t add to many small beads to the design because I really wanted to let the beads shine. If this one doesn’t sell I will be happy to put it in my private collection :). Now I have one problem. I keep making this type of bangle to large. I thought I had the right length of beads but for small wrists it’s still to large if I add a "normal" clasp. So now I’m trying to figure out how to make the end loops overlap with some kind of clasp so it will fit small wrists. Any suggestions are most welcome! The bangle looks kind of crocked but that is because I had to make a scan of it which is very hard when you make a bangle with memory wire LOL.
Of course I learned how to make this type of bangle from Eni’s tutorial. Smokinbracelet_216_x_544

Cha cha cha – Natalie Cotgrove

Cha_cha_nan_e_3 Cha_cha_nan_e_2_3

Like many of you I’m sure I’m busy making christmas presents and stock for shows. This week I finally got to make up these ‘cha cha’ bracelets (I think thats what they are called or maybe I’ve been watching too much Strictly come Dancing!!). It is basically a base metal expandable bracelet with holes to attach beads in two rows around the outside. I used freshwater pearls in tones of gold, silver and white for the first one and and multicoulour strand with white for the other. They are for my grandmas for christmas hence the choice of materials and colours. I was thrilled to be able to think of something to make them at last and as they both have trouble with clasps these are perfect..lets hope they think so! They took about fours hours and two whole strands of pearls each . I don’t think I’ll be making many of these…it was certainly a labour of love.
