Swirls and Hoops

Amythest_s_hoops_4 Still making swirls this week 🙂 I had some pretty little amethyst drops lying around and I was trying to figure out what to do with them, so I ended up with these hoops. Due to tumbler issues though, I couldn’t give it a proper polish 😦

Now what to do with the rest of the drops … this is what I get for impulse purchasing 😀

way belated bracelet

Tomsbracelet
Way back when, on a plane to Boston, I made this stretchy Euro 4-in-1 in good time for week 4, on Jan. 24. It’s just taken me six weeks to get it posted.

The photo shows it in the midst of my in-flight work setup, in a neat little double-sided craft case I have that has a nice flat 1/2-inch deep compartment on one side, with lots of divided compartments on the other. I took two of the ring-shaped ring-opening tools and my oldest, closest-to-worn-out pair of pliers, in case the pliers got confiscated. However, they no longer seem to be on the dangerous list, thank goodness.

If the bracelet looks pretty small, it is — sized for my 4-1/2 year-old nephew. He likes the look of it but isn’t interested in actually wearing it; he prefers to s-t-r-e-e-e-e-t-c-h it!

Eni Oken – Week 4

Gem139c

My fellow jewelry maker Sheila Hobson creates these wonderful polymer clay miniature sculptured beads. A long while ago, she generously sent me a batch of matching beads, which I had planned to use in my YOJ projects. I finally got around to making a bangle for her, using her polymer beads coupled with citrine and carved stone beads, all wrapped in goldfilled wire. Notice the tiny carved leaves and dragonfly, soooo tiny.
I hope she likes the bangle — thanks, Sheila!
Better late than never — now if I can find some time to make some jewelry for myself with the rest of the beads… that would be great!
To see another image of the bangle, read my journal.

Snousey – Week 4 – Earrings

Silver_earrings Gold_earrings

I am playing catch-up. It’s not that I didn’t have my pieces made, I just couldn’t find the time to photograph and post them.
These earrings have made it clear to me why I’m not a free-form kind of gal.
I was looking through my WAJ magazines for inspiration on what to make for our Secret Sweetheart earring swap, and saw these earrings. I loved the look of them and thought I would try to make them for the swap. Well, since I am posting them here, you can guess the outcome.
The all SS earrings were first ones I made, and since they were my first ones, I thought they weren’t tooooooo bad. Lots of tool marks and some mangled wire. I made the earring on the right first, and the earring on the left was second, and is supposed to be a mirror image of the first – NOT. But for a first attempt at these – ok.
Now, the second set – as you can see, there are three. The first one I made is on the far left – not to bad! The "mirror image"  *snort* is in the middle. If you look closely, there is a huge divot in the wire at the center of the coil, which is huge compared to the other one, and I mangled the smaller coil pretty badly too. So, I thought I’d try to make one more and attempt to save this pair of earrings, hence the earring on the right. It was futile – I wound the large coil the wrong way and had to unwind it and recoil it, which was pretty traumatic to the wire. Notice how neither the middle or right earring is a good mirror image of the one on the left, but they very closely resemble each other? Must be something to do with right brain and left brain, lol! Needless to say, I could not send these off to my Secret Sweetheart so I had to resort to plan B, which shall be revealed with the rest.

Faerie Wings

Apologies – a pleasant unexpected trip put me off my schedule but I’m back and here is my
entry for this week – practicing my soldering and forging skills – I enjoyed doing this one and will try
to do more….Faeriewings
In retrospect, a look at the list of themes and I think this one would better suit any of the “wind” related
titles so maybe I will have to draw up some variation of this to go with those themes as they come up…

Jean Power- week 4

oops- late again- must try harder!
I have been making these beaded beads for a few months now and am utterly obsessed with them.

They’re quite simple to make and though I don’t usually like ‘bitty’ work with lots of stopping and starting, I can’t get enough of these.

They use 5mm round Swarovski crystals and some 2mm rounds- which are unbelievably beautiful!

I’m having lots of fun playing around with colour combinations and for this piece I altered my technique slightly as an experiment and I’m delighted how it turned out. And of course they’re a great excuse to go and stock up on more crystals!

Week 4/Micki

This ring is from Dianne’s  Prong Illusion Bead Ring tutorial.  I love the way it feels.  It is so light to wear and the look is danty.  It is in Sterling and the bead is jade.Jadering I am late because of my darn computer.  The ring was finished in time though. ;] Jadering3

Week 4 – Lemon Chrysoprase Pendant

Week4_4A 12mm Lemon Chrysoprase bead, Chrysoprase rondale and 18, 24 gauge sterling silver.  I wished I had taken a photo without the front dangle, but I no longer have the necklace.  I oxidized the silver because it really brings out the lemon color of the bead.
I still don’t know if I like the front dangle, everyone I asked liked the necklace with it.
